Bankston offers a primary school readership an introduction to the story of the founder of the American hydrogen bomb. He relates Teller's life in the context of World War 2 and the Cold War. A rather bleak backdrop that reflects the sombre nature of the story.Given the background of the audience and the length of this slim book, there is little discussion of the complexities of Teller's long life and the controversial issues and passions he evoked in many. Perhaps a young reader will be interested enough to pursue a fuller history of the man and his times. |
