5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource for Understanding Disorder & Necessary Components for Treatment, June 7, 2006

This review is from: Developmental Apraxia of Speech: Theory and Clinical Practice (Hardcover)
This book is highly technical. As a parent, once I learned the terminology, it provided me with a deeper understanding of apraxia and gave me the basics to look for in a treatment program. Not every school district or speech therapist is willing to invest the time and effort to lay a foundation of solid skills. The advice on pages 125-126 about the repetitive practice required was especially helpful. It is a wonderful book that will make a difference for my son with autism who was not diagnosed with apraxia until almost age eight and cannot afford to spend years in ineffective therapy. I highly recommend the book for those who want an indepth understanding of the disorder.
