This is an excellent book for Early Childhood Educators. The book is easy to read and it covers before birth to 12 years of age. It has excellent resources.

Although this book is a textbook I purchased it as a new parent for use as a guide to my daughter's development. While it does contain a great deal of useful information it doesn't go into significant detail about any particular phase of development but rather gives an overview of each stage, hitting the highlights. Nonetheless I would buy it again and think it was a good investment.

This book gives the basic expectations for the ages specified. The book breaks the developmental expectations down by age, and covers most developmental expectations such as physical and cognitive and social. This is a good beginners book or one to reference.

This book is an excellent study of children from birth to 12 years and is a prescribed text book for the Advanced Diploma in Childrens Services. It is a highly regarded text and the book met our expectations. It is one book we will keep as a reference in our library.

An easy read... The information is quite familiar, if you have read other materials on health, safety, development, and nutrition issues for young children. The enclosed CD-ROM provides real and practical examples of classroom settings, setup, and activities--based on age.

This is a great reference book. It is not meant to be too theoretical or too scientific. Rather, the profiles are "generalized" portraits of children at different ages. It goes into details on physical, motor, language, cognitive, and social development. As a child developmentalist, I use this as a quick and dirty reference to share information with others in my company who don't necessarily need to know the technical and the theoretical.

A great resource for anyone who work with children but are not necessarily professional clinician, researcher, or developmentalist.

Please be aware Amazon's "NEW" option of this textbook DOES NOT come with the CD mentioned in the text that many students need. This is not noted in the product description. One would assume a "NEW" version of a textbook contains the needed materials but I guess not. DO NOT order this book as "NEW" and waste your time and money if you are needing the CD.
