The Devi of Speech is a collection of selected writings about the goddess and speech from Swami Radha's seminal Kundalini Yoga for the West. I've been working with Kundalini Yoga for a while now, and Swami Radha's reflections on the role of speech in spiritual--as well as daily--life have always inspired me. It's such a gift to have her wisdom in a beautiful pocket-sized book that I can carry with me wherever I go. Swami Radha's reflections on speech in each chakra are very moving and powerful. My favourite thing about this book are the exercises that follow each chakra. Meditations, questions, and visualizations have helped me be more aware of how I use speech in daily life. Simple exercises, such as keeping a ring in my mouth for a day, remind me to practise awareness of my speech when interacting with others. Swami Radha tells us that everything we say or write will manifest, and there is great power in this. Devi of Speech is a delightful guide to directing this power. |
