4.0 out of 5 stars Mello uptempo Classic l963 single, July 6, 2006
This review is from: Devil in Disguise (Audio CD)
Another Presley pop-rocker with an intricate arrangement. This one is a natural for Elvis, as croons the melody until he hollers out the song title. I think he could have re-recorded the vocal as the released version never quite reaches that *rockin'* territory but it's still a great/near-great single for the time. Once again, Presley demonstrates his multi-faceted voice-box: he whispers in waltz-time, then switches to a smooth baritone.
For me, the real "hook" is the extended ending with hand-claps and a super guitar break.
The B-side is another fast number, again leagues away from "Good Rockin' Tonight" and "Mystery Train", but a fun listen. Elvis' crooning works well against the slightly under-mixed chorus.
