versus
3.0 out of 5 stars Scum Frog Mixes are amazing
Agree with the other posters that the original album mix was pretty bad. The Vission mixes are worth checking out, but also agree with other posters that they are derivative and not all that moving.

The Scum Frog mixes, however, are spectacular. This is the kind of stuff that makes it impossible not to move. I heard this at the gym today, and everyone...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good dance track with an asian flavor, September 24, 2004
This review is from: Devil Inside (Audio CD)
Solidly sung dance song featuring asian influenced synths, the track comes in 8 flavors on this CD maxi single:
1. Album Version
2. RJD2 Remix
3. Richard Vission Radio Edit
4. The Scum Frog Radio Edit
5. Richard Vission Experience
6. Richard Vission Duberience
7. The Scum Frog Vocal Mix
8. The Scum Frog Dub

The RJD2 Remix is the most interesting, eschewing the driving beat of the album version for a more relaxed tempo and funky piano chords.

Richard Vission's mixes, while not bad, are a tad lacking in originality. The beat he uses bears a hell of a resemblance to Donna Summer's 70's classic, "I Feel Love," and beyond that, it doesn't really do much with the song the way the RJD2 mix did.

The Scum Frog mixes aren't very ground breaking either, but they tend to have more fun with the vocals, and add some very appealing trance elements.

Overall, a solid buy for the money, and a solid entry for Utada (or the artist formerly known as Hikaru =) ) into the US music scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars Utada - The Devil Inside, October 16, 2004

Devil Inside is a really good song, but those remixes are even better! The Richard Vission remix is totally cool - no wonder it's doing so well on Billboard Dance!

The Scum Frog mixes, however, are spectacular. This is the kind of stuff that makes it impossible not to move. I heard this at the gym today, and everyone seemed to be cooking to it.

So 3 stars for the album, but if it was just the Scum Frog stuff, I would give it 6 stars. I recommend getting the Scum Frog Vocal Mix (track 7) as a first step, rather than the complete album.

Okay, he dosen't at all. Anyways, I thought this cd was great in my opinion. The remixes including the original were good. Im not sure which one I like the best right now, so I think all are good. Just another great cd from Mrs. Hikaru.

5.0 out of 5 stars the richard vission mix blew me away with its retro 80s electro house vibe, May 22, 2006
This review is from: Devil Inside (Audio CD)
Like something Dead or Alive might record today (and Pete Burns still is recording), the Richard Vission mix is a hi-nrg electro masterpiece. In the right venue, the crowd would go wild over this track. My only real issue with it is that there's a HUGE intro (like half the song) before the vocals come in on the long version, and the chorus is so catchy it should have been introduced earlier. Conveniently though, there's also a radio edit of this mix.

I've always been a fan of utada, but devil inside just never hit the spot for me (but it did for lots of other people!). the original version was awful, but all the remixes on this cd makes up for it :)

grade, B+

Yet like I mentioned, not a huge fan of Utada, this is one of the best remix singles to come out this year.

Tracks I Like: Scumfrog is the mix to pick, yet you should also check out the Richard Vission remix. Oh, I should also mention that the Scumfrog remix hit no. 2 on Billboard's Club Play.
