Moros Eros ~I Saw The Devil Last Night And Now The Sun Shines Bright~,

Moros Eros' I Saw the Devil Last Night And Now The Sun Shines Bright is odd. The album brings together rock, pop and dance the way Head Automatica did on Decadence: with a blatant disregard for genre.Driven by thick bass lines and vocals that bob and weave between being Robert Smith, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and maybe even a little Brandon Flowers from The Killers--this band combines hand claps, synth pop and dissonant chord progressions to create what is mildly danceable and wholy entertaining. This band's song do not lay claim to one singular style or feel as they branch out and cover as much as they can within the standard song structure though the aforementioned singers would also be the first place I'd point to as an influence with more of a garage sound than any of them. Highly recommended to those you ready to throw caution to the wind and take a chacne on a band that actually has a new sound. Do not buy this if you want the straight forward and normal!

In a world of comercialism and radio rock that all sounds the same, it's nice to hear a band like this. If I had to compare Moros Eros to another act, I'd say they sound a bit like Sparta with a little The Mars Volta thrown in for good measure, but nothing like At The Drive-In, oddly enough. I Saw The Devil Last Night is definitely catchy, but also very musical. You can't help but tap your toes while listening to this record. Laiden with funky bass lines, exultant vocals, and amazing drumming, Moros Eros have laid claim to a sound all their own. Not one song on this album is anything short of amazing. If you like to hear musicians creating something totally original, or maybe you just want something new, give this record a spin. You won't be disappointed. Five stars all the way.

Absolutley was blown away with this album, extremely Under the radar, every song on here sounds different, and yet it does not sound like an album that was just put together with random songs.. they all flow together very well, some of the songs sound Like weezer (Satan has a heart of gold) to Mars Volta and yet, they still come out creating an sound that is original and endearing. Some of the reasons I can see why this was not introduced to a wider audience is because they mention words like Devil alot, and really there is nothing that sounds satanic on here.. its all cheeky and in good fun.I listened to the second album, and even though I was slightly dissapointed, I thought this album was still very good, and one of the best indie rock albums of 2006, easily I would put it in the top 20. Sadly they have broken up, but I still think you should buy this album.

The Greatest Rock "Opera" Ever,
This review is from: I Saw The Devil Last Night And Now The Sun Shines Bright (Audio CD)
I've been consistently listening to this album since its release in 2006, that in itself speaks volumes for how amazing this record is. so many albums, have entered and left rotation over the years. By Moros Eros, always finds its way back, and I've never been sick of it.This album is easily, 5 stars, sadly not enough people have listened to it. In 2006 my ear drums had never heard anything like this album before, and now in 2011, (almost 2012) my ear drums still haven't heard anything like this album. It's perfect. Please do your self the favor of listening to this album. thank you for putting out this album Moros Eros

Simply Awesome,

The first time I heard Moros Eros I was slogging through another late shift at work with Pandora droning in the background. Amidst the slew of generic nu-metal and funky experimental craziness sliding across my The Mars Volta station, I heard something that made me snap immediately to attention. I explored a few more of their songs and wound up falling headfirst down the rabbit hole.Unlike so many newer bands, Moros Eros does not confine the rhythm players to carrying a palanquin for cheesy guitar riffs - the bass and drums are unleashed and allowed to play star roles in several tracks. Atop the bold, driving, often tribal rhythms, eerie melodies flicker and flare like candlelight. The resulting album is wickedly catchy, with a tinge of madness in the lyrics and a textured sound that I would relate to TMV minus acid-trippy experimentation. Although it offers variety, I Saw The Devil Last Night also manages to maintain a very cohesive theme: the creeping of darkness into one's life and the ironic musings that follow. If I needed a soundtrack for a circus in purgatory, this would be it. Unlike anything you have ever heard, really, and definitely worth a listen. |
