A Collection of Some of Jamie's Slower Songs,
By

I really like Jamie Cullum's music; however, that said, if you already have "Twentysomething," "Frontin'," and "Catching Tales," you do not need to buy this CD which is a compilation of some of his slower tunes from other discs. The tunes aren't bad, or anything, but they are not done like a different version from their original cuts on the albums. So, maybe I should put this as, if you do not have anything of Jamie's, or simply want a CD of his slower tunes, this is for you.
The disc is not on the Verve label, so I am not sure why it was issued. If I sound puzzled, I am, but I do hope the review helps. I know if I had read this, I wouldn't have bought it because I have all the cuts from the original discs.

Devil May Care is very similar to Pointless Nostalgic, so if you already bought that and are not a huge Cullum fan, you may want to skip this. That said, the album is great. Standout tracks are "Devil May Care", "I Can't Get Started" and "In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning."

I'm a big JC fan, so big that I've been to all his Los Angeles shows, I have signed CD's and posters framed and hanging on my wall. But this album is not close to becoming one of his more memorable one. Only two songs stand out for me, God only knows and Love won't let me wait. Fellow brit Joss Stone did a way better rendition of God Only Knows. I recommend using the Amazon music sampler first before buying. I would have been better served by purchasing the two songs I do like for $1.98.
