A good split for those with an open mind,

This review is from: Devil Pigs (Audio CD)
I'll begin by saying that, as far as black metal goes... Dark Funeral and Von are as about as opposite as you can get. Dark Funeral, for instance, sounds much like they do on every other CD they have. Crunching guitars and a double bass that makes your chest hurt just listening to it. And the music sounds well produced and clean. Like it has some sort of structure. I especially like their cover of Equimanthorn. Von on the other hand... wellll... I'll just say that they're definetly an aquired taste. It's got a real underground feel to it, the vocals sound more like a flu patient coughing up snot, and the whole thing generally sounds chaotic and cheaply made (I'm sure that's what the band intended). The lyrics are much more disgusting than those of Dark Funeral as well, which fits in nicely with the vocalists more sickly style of screaching. So all together, the first half of the CD sounds more like a war is being waged against Heaven, and the second half sounds more like you've been sent straight to Hell. If that makes sense. If it doesn't... just know that it really is a good CD. And if you give it an open mind, I'm fairly sure you'll like it too.
