2.0 out of 5 stars At least it was only a quarter..., February 5, 2008

This review is from: In Bed With The Devil (Silhouette Desire) (Millionaire of the Month) (Mass Market Paperback)
Jack is a millionaire who must spend a month in the estate of his dead best friend in order for a substantial inheritance to go to a charity. Also at the house is Meri, the now grown sister of his friend who is out to seduce him then send him packing since he rejected her all those years ago. Never mind that she practically has a fiance (or that he is conveniently turned into a cad), since she doesn't give it a second thought. Despite her friends pleas, she goes on with her plan, then it blows up in her face when they both develop feelings for each other.

Not knowing this was the last in a series, I felt a little lost when characters would suddenly be mentioned (and the epilogue is skip-worthy if you have not read the rest of the stories), then never developed. This might have been an interesting story if it had not been for the heroine. For a brilliant person, she certainly wasn't smart. And her lack of self esteem got tedious (as well as all her surgery to placate her demons). I never got the feeling that she was anything more than a petulent child, even after a dozen years. This story was just a huge dud; like her huge implants. Luckily I got this for a quarter at a library sale.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pathic story, September 26, 2007
This review is from: In Bed With The Devil (Silhouette Desire) (Millionaire of the Month) (Mass Market Paperback)
I usually like Mallery's books, but not this one. The main problem I had was with Meri. I got sick and tired of her. Why would anyone want to seduce someone and then turn around and go back to their boyfriend. Another problem I had was with all the surgery she had done. I didn't see her as a strong woman. I thought she had extreme issues when it came to her looks. She should have been happy with who she was. I got sick of reading about her. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Is this a Susan Mallery Book??, October 17, 2007
This review is from: In Bed With The Devil (Silhouette Desire) (Millionaire of the Month) (Mass Market Paperback)
I completely agree with Heather's review. At times I found myself asking if this was really a Susan Mallery book. I usually enjoy her stories so much but this didn't read like her style at all. I will say that the first chapter was great and left me with the impression that this would be an ugly duckling becomes beautiful swan-type story, which I adore. Instead, Meri was a completely unlikable character and was extremely conceited with her "new" looks. If I had been Jack I would have told Meri to "hit the road!". She was a complete turn-off. Save your money on this one.
