Deceiving,
By cottoneye (Québec, Canada) - See all my reviews

The two songs I really liked in the movie are NOT on this soundtrack (KT Tunstall's ''Suddenly I see'' and Belle and Sebastian's ''I Don't Love Anyone''). I could understand Belle and Sebastian not being on it since their song was playing in the background (in a bar) but Suddenly I See is playing during the opening credits AND it plays for like 3 minutes!!! It really should have been on this CD.
I really recommend you check the tracks before buying this. I'm not happy with my purchase.

The Reviewers Were Right,
By
This review is from: Devil Wears Prada (Audio CD)
I actually read the tepid reviews for this CD but I believed that it couldn't be that bad. Okay, I was wrong. The reviews are correct. If you're gonna buy this CD then buy it used and cheap. It certainly ain't worth the $13.99 I spent. It's just so weird that the movie seemed to have a really great track list and the CD is so mediocre. Maybe it was the surround sound making the boring songs sound better than they were? On the plus side, I'm happy to have the Jamiroquai track "Seven Days in Sunny June". Though not one of their best songs I still enjoy it. The star track is "Here I Am" by David Morales. A really great dance song that immediately makes me think of the runway and designer clothes. I really wish the CD had more uptempo tracks like that. The "Devil" Suite is actually pretty clever. I like listening to it but after the first minute it can get a little stale. Overall, this is not the trendy disc I thought it was gonna be. I was expecting more dance and club songs but got a bunch of whiny, teen drama inspired ballads and some old throwaway songs from Madonna and U2. Don't get me wrong. "Vogue" will always be a classic but everyone has that song by now. They should have picked something new and/or obscure in it's place like the song playing during the opening credits. Again, I say, if you really want to buy this soundtrack wait for it to be reduced to a $1 on Ebay and then add it to your collection.

A (Mixed) Prada Bag,
This review is from: Devil Wears Prada (Audio CD)
Buyer be(somewhat)beware. Not everything you heard and liked in this movie is on the soundtrack. Tres Tres Chic and Sleep are close to making this worth the purchase, but missing Jump and Suddenly I See; two signature songs in the movie, make it a dodgey purchase.
This soundtrack does not do justice to a delicious movie, definitely a Chanel knock-off.

Way too expensive for what you get.,
This review is from: Devil Wears Prada (Audio CD)
For such a cool movie, this is a disappointing soundtrack. The music is one of the things that makes the movie. The soundtrack sounds like something the producers used for a trash can (hmm don't need that anymore, let's throw that in there...that too, that too, etc). Come on, Vogue?? (no pun intended) Two Madonna songs on the same soundtrack are two songs too many for me. And Vogue is ancient. The worst tragedy of this CD is that they neglected to include KT Tunstall's song "Suddenly I See," which opened the movie. The only way this can be perceived as a good deal is if you run out to Wal-Mart while they are still selling the package deal (the DVD and this lame CD) for under twenty bucks. Then you'll basically have to download everything else that you want that they left off. Sad, sad, sad.

The best 2 songs of the film - The opening Sequence and Madonna's Jump are missing from the so call soundtrack! I blindly purchased this trusting that it would be a complete soundtrack, and now I am dissapointed - It does feature plenty of background music I don't even remember from the movie.

not what I expected,

Unfortunately I did not read the reviews for this CD until after I ordered it and realized the opening song by KT Tunstall was not included. Like another reviewer, the only reason I ordered this was because of that song. I did not even open the CD, just sent it back. The other songs were okay, but I did not want to keep it without that song. I bought KTs eye of the telescope Cd and was pleasantly surprised that I really like all the songs on it, and for me that is very rare.

Perfect 5 IF it had one more song!!,
This review is from: Devil Wears Prada (Audio CD)
I absolutely loved the movie, saw it twice...the music was phenomenal as well. I bought the cd and much to my dismay the one track I was hoping that would be in there was not....which is the opening scene to the movie KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See
Still a good soundtrack nonetheless..a good buy I'd say. Question to the pro's...I'm trying to remember the song that they played in the art gallery scene of Andrea's friends. I listened to the whole soundtrack and none of the songs seem to match the one that I'm looking for..if anyone can help me out I'd really appreaciate it!

Incomplete Soundtrack... But for a reason...,
By
This review is from: Devil Wears Prada (Audio CD)
I agree with all other viewers who harshly claim that this "The Devil Wears Prada" soundtrack album is incomplete.
Keep in mind that K.T. Tunstall (performer of 'Suddenly I See') is one of those artists who protect the copyrights oh her musical work as pure gold or precious gems. Therefore, not being the WEA edition of this album a "COPY PROTECTED" one (very common actually in some Brit-German-European CD editions), she hasn't allowed the song to be included in the final version of the soundtrack. It means, if you really go crazy for having K.T. Tunstall's "Suddenly I See" at the touch of your hand every time you want to hear it, get her 'Eye to The Telescope' album, and simply avoid buying this really irrelevant compilation of songs titled as "Original Soundtrack"... However if you loved the great performances that Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway developed in this film, get the DVD of the film instead! |
