3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not inspiring
This is a good album. It is well crafted, and it is always great to hear Vinnie, Geezer, Dio and Tony in action.

Its artistic flaw is that it is just more of the same. You won't find any boundaries pushed here. Of course, if boundaries were pushed, someone would complain it doesn't sound like a Black Sabbath album!

Totally Loved the Music the guys created in this album. All contribute and deliver a great all-round sound. Wether

extends his warmer sound that is clearer in the Live at Radio City Music Hall DVD.

What really made me furious was how Amazon messed up the delivery on this one. The first one I received as a gift

and it was SHATTERED on two sides and cracked on the others and back. The second copy which was sent was sent to me in the same way, so the jewel case was cracked on one side. This is part of a collectors edition, and it is getting a bit too consistent that one division of Amazon can't package a CD/-DVD pack; The returns section sent both packages, and I know it is part of the division since the same lot sent a second package on a different order, and I got the same results. This was an item paid for, so Amazon, if you don't listen, then I think you will lose

customers. Its clear that at least some of your staff do not care, some of your outsourced staff ??

The great returns of Dio Sabbath Spirit. Heavy, melodical and phenomenal Iommi riffs, Dio voices interpretations and excepcional Butler bass line. I recommend for Sabbath fans!!!

Really enjoyed this latest installment, these guys have still got the chemistry that have made them hard rock legends! A must for DIO and SABBATH diehards!

Review by Metal-Head-Ted (Karyn's Husband)

The eagerly awaited new Black Sabbath (ok-Heaven and Hell)album/ DVD

showcases Dio's amazing vocal range and Iommi's HEAVY riffs.Bassist Geezer and drummer Appice are equally amazing in bringing back the trademark "Dio/Sabbath" sound. Their last one was more of a Greatest Hits

with 3 new tracks ( only 1 new track was great). Yes, it has been a few years since their underated metal masterpiece, "Dehumanizer" which was also a killer concept album. Dio is still writing all the lyrics and we are taken on a journey of demons, pain, and the usual dark places. This new one doesn't quite live up to "Dehumanizer" but still leaves its mark on you. "Bible Black" stands out as the best track on the album (possibly their best since their "Mob Rules" days) "Fear" is one I hope to see them play on this summer's upcoming tour. "Eating The Cannibals" is another classic to be. As a Sabbath fan, you're usually split into two groups:

1) The Ozzy/Sabbath Fan who loved Ozzy at the helm and wants only Ozzy.

2) The Dio/Sabbath Fan who loves Dio back at his rightful throne.

Both are great, but I have to go with Dio/Sabbath. Dio has always had more

range and talent and more of an imagination in the songwriting.

This new album does rock, just not as good as 'Heaven/Hell' or 'Mob Rules'.I think it has just been too many years in -between "Dehumanizer" and Now. The Bonus DVD is fun, too. Behind the scenes, Etc.

Dio's lyrics are as silly as ever. Scary lyrics for 5-year-olds.

I've marked the CD down though only for its somewhat unpleasant sound. The mix is bad. Dio is way to forward in the mix, guitars lack bite, and Vinnie sounds munted. Add to that the mastering has almost completely crushed any dynamics out of the CD, leaving it loud, dull and fatiguing. Yet another "loudness war" ruined disc.

I would recommend Iommi's solo "Fused" album well ahead of this. Vol maxed mastering yes, but at least it is well mixed.

Added to that, the DVD is very poor value. Interviews with the band are interesting - once. Wheres the music vidoes? Where the 5.1 audio? I hate being taken by record companies abusing their artist monopolies.
