The band composed of Mike Hasty (guitar), Chris Rawson (guitar), Aaron Ruby (bass) and new drummer Dustin Schoenhofer (formerly of Premonitions Of War) recently finished recording in Cleveland with producer Ben Schigel (Chimaira, ZAO, Ringworm). The resulting album With Devils Amongst Us All will be released August 22nd on Trustkill Records. Speaking on the new material Hasty comments "its definitely the most varied music weve ever written and its a lot more anthemic whereas our older material was more about aggression than composition." Kucsulain explains "weve been on tour so much since the last album that weve been able to let our true personalities shine through on stage. When we were younger we would just express aggression and then go pass out. However playing live every night, you learn to pace yourself and as you get older you also want to express other things than rage so weve definitely developed our live show and our music."
This diversity has worked itself into the bands lyrics as well which in the past had been terribly bleak. "Ive definitely developed a much healthier mindset. During the past albums I had gone through bad relationships and bad experiences, now Im about being productive. Im still upset about the world, but now I also want to talk about what we can do to make things better." Walls Of Jericho formed with a different drummer in the late 90s, the group released their debut full-length The Bound Feed The Gagged which was an important early release for fledgling indie, Trustkill (Metal Maniacs proclaimed the album more abrasive than a belt sander over broken, bloodcaked skin). The group toured the states non-stop alongside groups such as Earth Crisis and In Flames.
Between albums Hasty had become a well known producer recording The Black Dahlia Murder and Bloodline Calligraphy among other bands as well as opening a thriving recording studio in Detroit. Ruby had also emerged as a well known tattoo artist, becoming acclaimed for straight edge tattoos (Ruby also does the artwork for the new album). The bands next release 2004s All Hail The Dead had a fury of press coverage including Alt Press, Revolver, Headbangers Ball, Hit Parader and helped cement the bands reputation as a must see live act. Walls Of Jericho has toured with Unearth, Sick Of It All, Mastodon, Fear Factory, Bleeding Through, Throwdown, Most Precious Blood, Atreyu, Bury Your Dead, and It Dies Today. The group are embarking on a Canadian tour with Unearth and All That Remains which will lead to Walls Of Jerichos appearance on the second stage all this summer on Ozzfest.

Buy this if you're looking for some really good heavy music,

This review is from: With Devils Amongst Us All (Audio CD)
Walls of Jericho (Detroit's hardest working hardcore band) have made their tightest album to date "With Devil's Amongst Us". The song's here hit the mark every time with vicious, heavy guitar driven hardcore led by Candace's penetrating vocals. The lyrics here have meaning and purpose. The guitar work is brutal, pummeling fast and non-stop.
The songs on this disc have a more structured feel compared to the more free form hardcore style on their previous albums. All of the tracks here are good. Some standouts: Track 1 - "A Trigger full of Promises" has one of the best lines on the album "If I load this gun, would you hold it to your heart and give your life for love" Track 2 - "I know Hollywood and you ain't it" at 00:54 seconds, the guitar has this heavy old school thrash feel to it which carries through the rest of the song. Good stuff Track 3 - "Hope you Die" is a quintessential Walls of Jericho song with demon speed guitar & magnum force vocals that make you want to tear *stuff* up. Track 6 - "The Haunted" starts off slow & eerie with this chanting then gets going. The chanting turns into the chorus. Makes for a good fight song! Track 9 - "No Saving Me" is a great mellow tune that shows off the band's musical talent. Plus Candace really flexes her singing skills (Reminds me of Angel off of 'The Bound Feed the Gagged'). This album is a must for Walls of Jericho fans. It should be required for any hardcore or metal fan. If you dig it & want to hear more Walls of Jericho check out 'The Bound Feed the Gagged' and 'All Hail the Dead'. Plus if you ever get a chance to see these guys live, do it. They are one of the most intense bands you'll ever see.

110% Improvement,

After hearing the first single "Trigger Full Of Promises" on the headbangers ball cd i thought well this is a great improvement from their other albums. I decided to go ahead and give this album a chance and picked it up at best buy. After listening to the whole album i wondered if this was the same band.
The songwriting on this album has improved so much. the guitar riffs are much more intricate and thrashy, the drums are fast, pounding and full of brutal fills, and the vocals are very angry and brutal. The breakdowns are much improved as well. I know people wont agree with me on this one but i feel most of these breakdowns are better than the new unearth album. Each song stands out on its own for each specific reason which is good cause it gives you an album that you have to listen to from start to finish. The most suprising element about this album is the ballad song which is number 9. The singer actually sings and sound really good and it has a nice solo in the song. It remings me of lacuna coil. It is also a good break between the destruction so you can catch your breath before the last two punishing tracks. I suggest this album for anyone that likes unearth, shadows fall or any band that has either thrash elements or who likes great breakdowns. Go pick it up cause they deserve the exposure!!!

Killer,
This review is from: With Devils Amongst Us All (Audio CD)
Walls of Jericho is one of the hardest-hitting bands I've heard. This record may be their best from start to finish. Candace's vocals are probably the most brutal I've heard from a female vocalist, and I've heard pretty much all of them. She screams with such passion - I've read reviews that said that this record didn't have the same angst, and that is completely untrue. If you like metalcore with solid guitar parts, some good breakdowns mixed in, and passionate lyrics and vocals, the first three tracks will have you hooked. I like all their records, but this is probably my favorite.
