A Classic Overview of Medical History,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Devils, drugs, and doctors;: The story of the science of healing from medicine-man to doctor, (Hardcover)
This is an old book (1929) but it is still quite a reliable text. I do not recommend this book for casual reading. It is, quite honestly, a very in depth review of the history of modern medicine up to the year 1929. The book is full of illustrations which are very tastefully presented. The book very nicely highlights the people who were pivotal in helping medicine forward, like Pare and Semmelweiss. Although the book does go into some detail, it will in no way "gross you out!" It is written in a very straight-forward manner and presents itself very nicely.
