3.0 out of 5 stars The second serial of Robotech: the Sentinels #1
These are very like The Works of E. E. "Doc" Smith and his Lensmen.
One step above a comic book in the space opera serial tradition of
Buck Rogers these novels have romance and adventure with
plenty of very bloody battles. Battlestar Gallactica in the series
for TV is very much like this with somewhat less imaginative aliens.

Admirals Rick and Lisa Hunter must lead a crew of thousands to Tirol, to make peace with the Robotech Masters. They are all back: Breetai, Exedore, Max and Miriya Sterling, a Jonathan Wolff who is not yet bitter and Dr. Lang. You even a peek at a young Bowie Grant and a young Dana Sterling.

It seems to understand a lot of the "details' you have to have read
some of the previous serials.
This sort of novel is almost pure escapist literature
that is read by teenage boys instead of doing their home work.
I actually kind of liked it,
but it isn't The City and the Stars and the Sands of Mars!
