Drunks and children- they tell the truth,
By A Customer
This review is from: Devils Night Out (Audio CD)
Forget everything you know about Ska-Core cause this is where it began. This is *the* Bosstones album to own- an edgy mix of ska beats, hard-core guitars, and the distinctive growl of Dickey Barrett on the microphone. This was the Bosstones at their best- a fun SKA band with an edge- before they disavowed their Ska roots a few albums later. Songs like Drunks & Children, Little Bit Ugly, and Do Somethin' Crazy embody the Bosstones sound and energy. Horns creeping in and building up, distorted guitars cutting to a clean back-beat- elements that made you want to sing along till you sounded like Dickey. Get this one. Now. (4 stars only because I don't like Haji)

Best Bosstones album ever.Dicky's gravely, ripping vocals adds to the great combination of punk and ska.Best album out there.Devil's Night Out and Haji are two of the best songs on this cd,although this cd can be listened the whole way through with out skipping any tracks.

I hunted for this album for a long time and i was pleased when my efforts were rewarded with an excellent album. Having only heard the live version of the song Devil's night out, i didn't know what to expect of the studio track, because the live one made very little sense. It blew me away. Other excellent tracks are patricia and the cave. Those two tracks are perfectly ordered. The mellow, sad tones of patricia turn into the uplifting beat of the cave. It's a shame that this band has cycled so many good members. The ones that remain, the Pay attention brethren, are not bad, but are still the weakest ensemble of players the band has seen...

Still my alltime TMMB favorite!,

Ever since I heard this album back in 1992 I have enjoyed it. I taped it from a friend and played it over and over until it got worn out and the cassette player ate it up. To this day, I still think this is the best Bosstones album I have ever heard! (no offense to their more punkier, rocking style now) This album has so much energy it almost replaces coffee! The lyrics are witty and make me laugh even after hearing them a zillion times. I am putting the vinyl version of Devil's Night Out on my Wish List today.

This is the Bosstones at their best. Fast brass rock. Ska to the core. They've put out nothing like it since. Oh skank heaven.
