5.0 out of 5 stars Read this for suggestions, August 6, 2000

This album is great, its a 2-in-1 album, you have Dimmu Borgir and Old Man's Child which are two great black metal bands. If you buy this album, which i suggest you to, you should also buy some title like Dimmu Borgir: StormBlast , youll like it too. You should buy Cradle of Filth: Cruelty and the Beast[Special edition] too. Before to buy any albums, listen to the samples. If you are under 18 and living with your parents, don't show this to your parents cause they will freak out. ;) I strongly recommand this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is the CD to get, November 22, 2004
This review is from: Devil's Path/In the Shade of Life (Audio CD)
Galder and the group for Old Mans Child play unbelievably well on this CD. You can tell that Old Mans Child have been playing for the music. The guitars are too good too be true. Dimmu didn't do as well on this Cd but they have now improved their sound and musicianship. This is a must own For Old MAn's Child fans and Dimmu Fans alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Norwegian Black Metal, June 5, 2007
This review is from: Devil's Path/In the Shade of Life (Audio CD)
I'd just like to say that these bands are both from Norway. In the editorial review, it states that the bands are "Scandinavian." Yes, they could be considered Scandinavian, just as they could be considered European. And by saying that they are European would be like saying they were from any other Country other than Norway. We all know that there's big differences in Swedish/Norwegian/Finnish/Whatever Black Metal.

That being said, you should pick this album up. If you didn't know, Old Man's Child is Galder's (one of the guitarists in Dimmu Borgir) side project.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD by two Great Bands, February 4, 2005
This review is from: Devil's Path/In the Shade of Life (Audio CD)
When buying this cd I had not heard anything by Old Mans Child. They are both very good and this cd is somewhat of a mixed bag of different styles. While Dimmu's songs on this cd range from death to black metal, OMC has the same feel but with some folk materials added in.

The best songs on this cd are Devils Path by Dimmu. In this song is is just true black metal down to the bone. AndSeeds of the Ancient Gods which is creepy yet still hard as Black Metal comes.

4.0 out of 5 stars good, but not Dimmu's best work, July 9, 2004
This review is from: Devil's Path/In the Shade of Life (Audio CD)
I happen to be a huge fan of Dimmu Borgir, and this was one of the last cd's by them that I've bought (but I still need some others to complete my collection), and I must say, I was quite disappointed. I listen to Dimmu because they put some melody into their music, but this cd is for those who prefer black metal like dark funeral. However, Old Man's Child, a band I usually don't care for, wrote some stellar songs for this album. Their 5 songs were more "dimmu-ish" than those that Dimmu did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dimmu Borgir/Old Man's Child cant fail, May 26, 2001

As any material from Dimmu Borgir it rokks. These before unawailable cd's are now put together on one great CD. On the Dimmu Borgir half we can hear a great version of "Master of Disharmony" and the great track "Devils Path" wich Dimmu Borgir have now re-recorded on the japanese version of "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia". The Old Man's Child side is no less heavy. Melodic masterpiceses as "St. Aidens Fall" and "Manet Sorgfull Igjenom Skogen" make the CD worth buying.
