This review is from: The Devil's Rejects - Unrated Director's Cut Widescreen (DVD)
When I first watched THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, I thought that it would be along the same lines as HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES. However, the two movies have little in common besides its characters.

THE DEVIL'S REJECTS occurs a few years after its prequel, and spans the entire police pursuit of the Firefly family. Because of this, the movie spans more like an action movie at parts instead of a horror film. The majority of the movie is spent tailing Otis, Baby, and Captain Spaulding as they encounter many obstacles on their run from justice.

Characters from the first movie such as Dr. Satan and Grandpa Firefly do not appear in this movie at all. In fact, none of the first movie's plot ever resurfaces, making THE DEVIL'S REJECTS okay to watch even if you have not seen the first.

The one problem that bugged me with this movie was the confusion it brought up about the family tree. There is clearly confusion about the parts that "The Professor" and Captain Spaulding play as patriarchs. I feel as though Rob Zombie could not make up his mind as to who was the father of whom.

The gore seen in the first film is present as well, but not nearly as much. There is the reoccurence of Otis' skin-scrapings, and some stomach-stapling, but as this views more as an action movie, the amount of gore does not compare to the first.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie, November 14, 2007
This review is from: The Devil's Rejects - Unrated Director's Cut Widescreen (DVD)
I love this movie as I also love "House of 1000 Corpses" I'm only giving THIS paticular dvd 4 stars because for some reason it doesn't have the making of the movie on here. I would have thought that the directors cut, unrated edition would have had more special features but it does not. It's only one disc. I didn't realize this when I purchased it & am VERY disappointed!!
