We got this bok because we are trying to teach our 5 yr old some basic French. This book is great for questions and declarations and the repetitive nature of the ryhmes make it easy for the child to learn. Since she knew and loved the english version, this was a great way to learn some french.

I recomend this with Ours Brun, Dis-Moi (Brown Bear What Do You See), Bonsoir Lune (Goodnight Moon) and La Chenille Qui Fait Des Trous (The Very Hungry Caterpillar). These are books your child already know by heart and are a great way to introduce a second language to your young child.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book to read to children who have been exposed to the French language or who are French., July 30, 2007
I have spoken only French to my grandson since he was born and taken care of him two to three days a week. My husband does not speak French.
This having been said, Jackson has known what je t'aime means for most of his 18 months. He is extremely active but sat very still when I read this to him for the first time. I pointed to pictures or explained the meaning of the important words (those necessary) for understanding the story to him. Now it is one of his favorite books.

He relates best to books with children in them and I would like to see this rewritten using children in this or a different format. For older children this book is a 5 star one.

This is the second grandchild I've bought this for. The first reads it to me in English and I read to her in French - trying to reverse the process - she's capable, just stubborn. Great book in any language!

Reading this favorite familiar story to my little ones is wonderful. They are learning to speak another language little by little and stories like this really help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book, January 9, 2012

This book has two beautiful stories. It is hard to find books in French for my kids (we speak French, but my husband does not), and they have enjoyed this one for several years now (ages 3-6).
