Over the years I've read many supposed-to-be-funny-and-clever little books about cats. This is because I live with a lot of cats and a lot of books, and people tend to think that if you like books and cats, then you certainly must find any book with "cat" in the title to be of significant interest. As a result, birthdays and holidays around here often end up looking like a collection site for a charity book sale drive.

And a lot of those little cat books DO end up going to charity, because frankly, quite a few are neither all that clever nor all that funny, in my opinion. There have been exceptions, but they are just that -- exceptions.

The Devious Book for Cats is one such exception. I received it the other day, and just flipping through and reading random sections left me laughing out loud. Really loud. Quite a few times. Given the current state of the economy and soaring prices for cat food and litter, I must tell you that I have not been in much of a laughing mood lately. The catnip budget around here has suffered quite a bit in recent months, just trying to put kibble on the table, you know. So this book is a welcome mood-brightener.

I like this book so much in fact, that I am ordering several more copies to send as holiday gifts. Anyone familiar with the feline lifestyle should find this book entertaining. The authors, Fluffy and Bonkers, have written an unusually creative, original and inventive guidebook.

And even though I am extremely busy these days watching birds out the window and napping, I am going to sit down on that book and absorb it more fully at my first opportunity.

Searching for a holiday gift for the cat-lover in your life? Look no further - this book made me, and my cat, laugh out loud.

an instant classic! As a cat owner, I think it's brilliant :)

If you have a cat, you know they live their lives by a set of rules that are uniquely their own. And more than once, you've probably wondered what's going on in that head of theirs. I don't know that this book answers it, but it's good for quite a few laughs... The Devious Book for Cats: A Parody by Fluffy and Bonkers (with the assistance of Joe Garden, Janet Ginsburg, Chris Pauls, Anita Serwacki, and Scott Sherman). I'm sure the only reason they needed help was the whole opposable thumb thing. Regardless, Devious is a funny look at a cat's life through the eyes of a cat, and I had a great time reading along.

Devious goes all over the place, and has far more laughs than duds in the different chapters. For instance, you learn that cats really have no word for "mistake," as everything they do is correct and on purpose. So when your cat falls into the fish tank, he's merely demonstrating to the fish that they aren't safe regardless of where they hide. Fall off the couch? They just didn't want to ruin their nails with a layer of dust that's on the floor. Did you know that cats have a variety of napping techniques depending on the situation? There's snoozing, dozing, resting, catching some z's, catnapping, the siesta, and shut-eye. It's only us uninformed humans that think it's all just sleeping. Oh, and if you declaw your cat, they still have plenty of ways to maintain their quality of life and destroy your home... :)

While reading The Devious Book for Cats, it was hard not to keep an eye on my cats and wonder how much of this just might be factual. I know I saw Snoogie and Baxter in a number of the pages, and I wondered just how much they collaborate at night to create mayhem during the day...

I am a definite cat person. I love all animals, but my cats are (in my opinion) the funniest little beasties I've ever had the privilege of knowing.

This book does right by cats. It's an absolutely hilarious book that has me cracking up almost every page. I have a quirky sense of humor so finding something to keep me laughing out loud for a long period of time isn't a terribly common occurrence for me.

Five stars because it's very, very funny, as well as an attractively bound book that is printed on high-quality paper. The little illustrations throughout are wonderful. Absolutely recommended! (I don't know why the recommended tags include "girls," and "gifts for girls"- really, this book is good for folks of any gender so long as they're cat lovers with a slightly snarky sense of humor.)

I love this book. I've been down lately and it really made me feel better for a few minutes. If you're looking for a light-hearted read, it's absolutely hilarious!

If you are a cat lover, you will fall in love with this book. I read it from front to back in about a day and go back to it when needing a good laugh. My sister recommended the book to me, and I am glad she did. Book is based on what life is like with humans from the perspective of two feisty and outspoken felines. Hilarious!

I laughed outloud and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a cat owner, you must get this book and it's a great gift for a fellow cat owner. Fluffy and Bonkers (the authors) tell it like it is...and they are hysterical! My cats are thrilled that their human now can begin to understand what they are thinking...or maybe not! HA

I have never laughed so much - It's funny when you are reading and then start laughing out loud- people really look at you funny, but...My cats could have written this book. It describes them to a tee. Any cat lover will love this book!

Bought this for my supervisor (the Cat lover)but had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. I, myself, am in to dogs...as the cats wrote...we can't imagine why! It is fun, easy and inexpensive.
