Okay,
By A Customer
This review is from: Devonsville Terror [VHS] (VHS Tape)
... I'll watch any genre of horror movie, from slashers, gorefests, cheap thrills, and psychological. This had good acting, interesting story, but very predictable, stupid towns people, and uneeded nudity. They put that in, because the makers of this film new the audience would be bored. This is an okay film, but could have been alot better. I have this one on The Boogeyman/Devonsville Terror dvd. The Boogeyman is the superior. I guess when you have seen The Exorcist, all other horror films just seem tame.

Small Town Horrors,
By A Customer
This review is from: Devonsville Terror [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This overlooked horror entry boasts eerie color photography and an interesting story about small town fears and prejudices. Three progressive woman arrive in a small town, and the locals fear they are the reincarnation of three witches destroyed by townsfolk hundreds of years ago. Some shocking violence against the woman guarantees some spectacular revenge. An interesting, worthwhile horror film offers both shocks and disturbing ideas.

Excellent lesser scene horror flick,
This review is from: Devonsville Terror [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"The Devonsville Horror" is one of my all time favorite horror flicks! This is a fabulously different type of gothic horror, full of strange camera angles and vibrant colors. Suzanna Love is spectacular, and Pleasence outstanding as always, though the film never really explains why he is infested with worms (!)The film depicts a small town, and three women who might be reincarnations of some witches burned long ago... I liked the autumn foliage, and the sense of unreality that pervade this oddity. A must for horror fans.

An Excellent Tale of Witchcraft,
By AncientLegends (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Devonsville Terror [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The Devonsville Terror is an excellent blend of murder, conspiracy and witchcraft. Many other films that deal with witchcraft in modern times often come across as boring and don't bring to mind the true feeling of witchcraft. This film however uses just the right atmosphere to bring across the feeling of witchcraft in the 1980's. The plot of the film deals with the persecution of three witches in 1683 and a terrible curse placed on the town of Devonsville by one of the witches which is about to be unleashed 300 years later. The film manages to keep up the interest level all the way until its familiar conclusion which owes more than a bit to Raiders of the Lost Ark. As was mentioned before, the atmosphere of this film is really good. The autumn leaves and dark moody weather really add to the witchcraft feeling and the voodoo demons in dream sequences add to the creepy feeling the film gives. This film will definitely please those who enjoy tales of witchcraft.
