A charming travel guide full of tips taken from lessons learned. Arlene Rains Graber is a woman of humor and good sense who carries her wit and a small "body pack" bag she named Charlie with her as she globe hops to some of the most wondrous places in the world. Her valuable tips are insightful and travels full of the unexpected, laced with scripture passages to segue into each adventure. If you're looking for unique adventures, Devoted to Traveling will help put you on the path to fun and excitement.

When I was planning my first ever airplane trip, the airline instructions for what I could carry on and what containers were acceptable had me stressed out. Then I picked up DEVOTED TO TRAVELING. Arlene Rains Graber's stories of travel calmed my nerves and helped me look forward to my new experience. While I picked up some tips on planning the trip and packing my must-have belongings, I learned there was more to preparing for travel than packing bags and reserving hotel rooms. By far the best parts of the book were Arlene's personal accounts of facing unexpected situations with patience and grace and how a positive attitude can turn a frustrating occurrence into a connection with people that may lead to kindnesses and adventures you might not otherwise have experienced.

Arlene Graber's book on traveling outlined the basics of how to plan a trip. She also worked in personal stories and examples that tied in with the scripture she used, and she did this without being 'preachy.' The end of each chapter contained her personal prayer. But what I enjoyed most was the feeling of her love and joy in living a Christian life. What I got from this book was way more than I ever imagined; I came away with the desire to be a better person. For me, it was a five-star read.
