5.0 out of 5 stars One conditional drawback, October 15, 2009

In my case, it seems that nearly every time I wear safety goggles, I also wear hearing protection. (I use the Peltor H10A Professional Noise Canceling Earmuff, which I would also rate at 5 stars.) Unfortunately, as much as I like the comfort of DeWalt's safety goggles, they are of such a substantial size that wearing them together with the equally oversized Peltor hearing protectors is a problem. The goggle's molded frame presses against the cups of the hearing protectors, pushing them backwards far enough to make them lose the seal around my ears. (With my 7-1/2 hat size, I don't have a small head, so that's not a contributing factor.) Any attempt to adjust the Peltor's earcups forward to arrange for a proper noise-attenuating seal merely pushes the goggles away from my face, with the result that the elastic strap on the goggles fights back -- a battle it always wins.

I can't, in good conscience, give less than 5 stars to this product -- it doesn't deserve to lose points because of my particular situation, and they're still my first choice as the safety goggles I'll wear when I don't need hearing protection. I wrote this review only to let someone who may be considering the purchase of, or who may already own, a pair of large hearing protectors of a potential conflict.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real protection for your eyes, June 4, 2008

when protecting your eyes, keeping particles out of them is just as important as impact protection. Cut up some concrete board and see what I mean. These glasses protect both ways. Used for protecting against cutting dust as well as extermination over spray, these are what you need for true eye protection. I bought both the clear and tinted and use them in many applications.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mowing Lawns? These are for you!, October 10, 2008

This review is from: Dewalt DPG82-21C Concealer Smoke Anti-Fog Dual Mold Safety Goggle (Tools & Home Improvement)
I love these. I have heard alot of folks knock them because they feel they don't have enough anti-fog. I rarely have had the fog, usually when I am do heavy work with alot of physical exertion. And then, it usually clears up quickly.
TIP-When cleaing, never use papertowels, tissue or toilet paper to clean. Simply rinse with warm water and then using your fingers take a little dish soap and warm water and wash the lenses gently. RInse throughly and shake off excess water. Let dry...again...no papertowels, let them dry on their own.
I use these when using a commercial mower, trimming, leaf blowing, and other landscape duties. If I were to have one comment against them, they need a little dust-foam-filter where the vents are. Needless to say, in new england when something like this occurs, we don't whine about it, but simply fix it.
A thin narrow strip of foam hot glued into the inside of the goggles where the vents are will keep some of the finer dust out but understand, this will cut down on the anti-fog feature.

The picture shown with these do not do them justice; I took a picture of myself for this review and posted it to show you how they really look.

They are the best googles for yardwork ever created. You can use them for a lot of other things too, although you might get a few wierd looks.

Virtually non-obstructed 180 degree viewing. They do not fog. They look super-cool too.

I live in Phoenix, AZ. The summer sun here is brutal (wish I could move to Northern California). These goggles work great while driving. I am too old to worry about how I look and much more interested in comfort. I don't care if I look like an old space cadet I want to be comfortable and these goggles are great for driving in Phoenix's brutal horrible summer sun. They fit over my glasses and provide eye protection and good peripheral view.

These goggles are really comfortable and have great visibility, even when wearing presciption glasses inderneath. They are durable (when cared for properly) and easy to clean.

They fog up. The vents are not adequate to vent sweat vapor without condensing on the lens at the corners of the goggles. They have to be removed and the moisture wiped clear to insure visibility. Summer is not here in Texas yet so they will have limited use in hot/humid conditions. The molded facepiece seals great and keeps moisutre channeled outside but there is not adequate ventilation inside.

These goggles are excellent when I am working in bright sun light and need eye protection. The goggles are well designed and comfortable to wear. When I ordered these smoke colored goggles I also ordered a pair of the clear lens. Both are of the same excellent quality. I am very satisfied with the purchase price of these safety goggles. Amazon delivered as advertised. I recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loose seal, oversize lens, quality construction, GREAT view!, July 9, 2010

I think my title says it all. I wanted tight sealing goggles for mowing grass, so that the debris wouldn't get to my eyes and irritate them, cause redness, allergy type symptoms, and drying. These goggles 'mostly' fit tightly but on my facial anatomy they leave up to a 1/8 inch gap between the top of my cheek and nose area. For a chemical splash probably not a terrible situation, but then again... For the particulates that get generated from a 60 inch mowing deck, dust does creep in. It would have been better if DeWalt had made the elastomeric part of the goggles deeper so you could tighten them up on your face to eliminate such gaps, but that is not possible without making them so tight as to be uncomfortable.

The size of the polycarbonate lens is not a functional problem by itself, although one poster did mention how the bow of the goggles hits his hearing protection muffs pushing them back off his ears. This is not a problem for me, however. I'm able to keep my Racetunes headset muffs on for music and wear these goggles. So if you only need the goggles, the lens size is not a problem (other than looking like some mono-eyeball alien to the neighbors!).

On a more positive note, the goggles are a really nicely made, quality product. The elastic band is nice and wide and the plastic parts molded well. With them on my field of vision outside on a sunny day was absolutely excellent. Furthermore, I sometimes need to wear reading glasses and I can wear them under these without a problem (you might not think you could but I did quite easily, and they are big reading glasses).

In short, I'm very pleased with these goggles and would recommend them. They'd get 5 stars if they sealed better, something entirely to be expected in such eyeware.

I recently went camping in the desert for Burning Man and needed some dust goggles that also kept out the sun. These worked perfectly on sunny days with raging wind storms. It kept the sun to a minimum and the dust out of my eyes!
