I will steer clear of spoiler territory, but let me just say that author E.L. Sarnoff has crafted one heck of an delicious tale here. It's a biting satire that puts a fresh new spin on an age-old villainness. And, as an added plus, Sarnoff also throws in a sprinkling of appearances by classic characters -- everyone from the Huntsman to Pinocchio. When competing personalities collide, the result is funny, melancholic, surprising and provocative -- all at once!
I really enjoyed reading Dewitched, and you will too. I can't recommend this enough -- it's a wonderful read geared that you should pick up if you like their fairy tales to be hip, mature and different.
This is a wonderful book!! Bring on the movie, I say!
We had all the characters from every fairytale and children's novel in the last 2000 years, including Capt'n Hook and Cinderella's evil step-sisters. We get an idea of how Jane, the Evil Queen, became that way, and how she could redeem herself.
This was a fun read and I will read the next book in the series.
There are words added or missing which you have to go back and figure out, and that takes away from the story. I did not find it wickedly funny, darkly shocking, or even shallowly moving. I would hope living in Lalaland would be more interesting than this! Sorry, but in my opinion this book is not worth the effort.
I thought the concept of the villainous queen – Jane Yvel - being forced into rehab to mend her evil ways was very interesting and original. This is written in first person from the queen’s point of view as she slowly begins to see the error of her ways. Much of the humour comes from Jane’s reactions to the different therapies, situations she is put in, and the other characters she meets. I found this brilliantly funny. I also enjoyed and was surprised by the various other fairy tale characters as they showed up.
The story itself is very well constructed and has a good few twists to it, some more predictable than others. I found it thoroughly entertaining from start to finish and I didn’t want to put the book down so I ended up reading it when I should have been doing other things which I don’t regret it at all! I completely loved this book and have already gotten the sequel which I will be reading when I have plenty of time to sit down and devour it in one sitting.
This book takes well known fairy tale characters, a good dose of humour and an excellent, entertaining story and mixes them up to create a captivating read. Highly recommended!

Thought provoking continuation of a children' story, only in an adult format. Lots of twists and character irony that once considered, actually made sense for fictional characters.Published 3 months ago by Timothy M Young

One star off just for the typos, and another for how the story sort of drags a lot. It's very fairytale-y but still, some parts seemed way "out there" compared to the rest of the... Read morePublished 10 months ago by HillS
