Book Description

After serving time for Snow White’s attempted murder, the Evil Queen is about to get a makeover. Just not the kind she expected. Thinking she’s being sent to a luxurious spa that will enable her to restore her beauty and recapture her title, Fairest of All, Jane Yvel instead finds herself at Faraway, a rehab center that caters to Fairytalelanders addicted to evil.

Upon confronting her love-hate relationship with her magic mirror and the demons of her past, she is sent back to the world of happily-ever-after. Her goal: to discover the true meaning of beauty. Her assignment: to work for Marcella, a demanding Princess-In-Waiting. Jane finds herself irresistibly drawn to Marcella's dashing fiancé, Prince Gallant, and his exquisite seven-year old daughter, Calla Rose. Will the Evil Queen who had no heart end up with a heart that’s broken?

Wickedly funny, darkly shocking, and deeply moving, DEWITCHED unravels the Snow White story as we know it and will make you see the evil legend in a new light as she rewrites her life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious and Dishy June 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Dewitched: The Untold Story of the Evil Queen is a fun, funny, yet tender spin on what happened to the evil queen after the poisoned apple. For the first time we get to know the Evil Queen (Jane Yvel) as a person outside of the fairy tale, but still in the fairy tale world and follow her on her journey towards self-discovery. This cross between satire, spoof and poignant quest is definitely a book for the grownup set. The best adjectives I can use to describe this book are delicious and dishy. I read it all in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. It's the perfect read for the beach, an airplane or anytime you want pure enjoyment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fabulous!!!!! June 10, 2012
By Goddess
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book! I was watching Snow White and the Huntsman, and wondering how much grimmer fairytales can get, when I stumbled upon this little gem. This is a chick lit version of the Evil Queen from Snow White, and it's as funny as funny gets! I LOLed at so many places and was delighted at the character arcs. I swear - every character had a character arc that was fulfilling, and there were plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep you surprised.

This is a wonderful book!! Bring on the movie, I say!

5.0 out of 5 stars Where Snow White ends, Jane Yvel begins... June 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Dewitched is a direct continuation of the Snow White myth, but with the most breathless of twists -- this time, the protagonist is Jane Yvel, the Evil Queen herself. After being put on trial and humiliated for her crimes, Jane is propelled into an incredible quest for meaning, love and redemption. And what a journey it is! As she narrates her tale in the first person, Jane proves to be a compelling character -- smart, sardonic and armed with a sympathetic backstory.

I will steer clear of spoiler territory, but let me just say that author E.L. Sarnoff has crafted one heck of an delicious tale here. It's a biting satire that puts a fresh new spin on an age-old villainness. And, as an added plus, Sarnoff also throws in a sprinkling of appearances by classic characters -- everyone from the Huntsman to Pinocchio. When competing personalities collide, the result is funny, melancholic, surprising and provocative -- all at once!

I really enjoyed reading Dewitched, and you will too. I can't recommend this enough -- it's a wonderful read geared that you should pick up if you like their fairy tales to be hip, mature and different.

4.0 out of 5 stars A wicked read! March 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
When the reviews said this was the retake on the classic Snow White story, I was apprehensive. I'm older now and though I have a fond place in my heart for Disney stories, I wasn't so sure this book would be a keeper. If I had a hat, I'd be eating it; I was so wrong! The authur did a freaking awesome job of first continuing to feed my already present hate or strong dislike for the Evil Queen but then proceeds to show me/readers WHY she is so evil and, boy, was I in for a surprise! She did a bang up job of humanizing the Evil Queen in a way that didn't feel over done or forced. Instead, she wove a story of pain, recovery, and finally redemption. I will admit that I got a bit misty eyed and was totally rooting for her to do some of those evil things she had playing out in her mind! It was chuckle out loud funny in places and very sweet in others.

My only dislike of the book is the Evil Queens love interest. I didn't feel the connection between them... funny thing is I felt more of a connection between her and Captain Hook!! And that's saying something. I just felt that it didn't fit as the authur presented it, and I would have loved to have read more of them talking or something other then the few chance encounters. Maybe it's that her love interest didn't feel like a complete person, he seemed very stepford husbandish. And for this reason alone, I will need some time to read the next book in which the marraige is not working, because I can't help thinking, "Well duh, they hardly knew each other!"

BUT the other characters are all very fun and well rounded! Her time in rehab is truly a magical time, the fairy tale characters are a riot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent February 19, 2013

What a great story. This twist of a well known fairy tale is wonderful. I enjoyed the story very much. It reminds me of the book/story "wicked" telling the story of the life of an "evil" woman. The reasons and history as to her actions. Fun, fast read. I already bought the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved This Book! November 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
My mother sent me this book as a gift and I have to say I absolutely loved it. I found myself pulled directly into the story and enjoying it from page one. It takes a different look at a story everyone has heard to see the reason that the Queen did what she did and how love can change it all. There are also some amazing cameos (The Emperor was my favorite) that make you wonder who might show up next.

This book is definitely worth the read and I'm excited to read the next!

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS BOOK and read the other side of the story August 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Dewitched blew me away. I started off hating Jane because of what she did to Snow, but in the course of the novel the author gave me a peek into Jane's past life and helped me understand what makes her do the things she does. Why she is so addicted to evil. Before my eyes and with every word and page, E. L. Sarnoff made Jane human. Until I got to the point where my heart really went out to her.

E. L. Sarnoff is a very talented author who is very skilled at painting with words. The world (Lalaland) she created was very real, magical, and beautiful. And so inviting, I felt like one of the inhabitants.

Thank you so much E. L. Sarnoff for breathing new life into the fairytale characters from my childhood. It was a delightful reunion. The great thing about this novel is that even if it was mostly about Jane's life, at the same time all the other fairytale characters (E.g. Hook, Rumpelstilskin, Pinocchio etc.) got a fair chance to tell their own backstories.

For a while after the story ended, I felt so empty. It will be hard to start reading another book. You have no idea how much I look forward to the sequel of Dewitched.

Don't miss out on this amazing fairytale, the chance to get reacquainted with your childhood characters. Be warned though. This novel comes with one huge side effect--sleepless nights. You wouldn't want to put it down.

I'm off to add E. L. Sarnoff to my list of favorite authors.
