Dexter, Season 4: Music From The Showtime Original Series

Dexter the character as we know it personifies the deep seeded darkness in every human being. To some these dark shadows are unknown and few knew these feelings as a part of them, however there are few of us who are slaves to their dark passenger and they are villains of the Dexter series. I like Dexter as he justifies his negative actions by taking out monsters who are able to escape the law.

The reason I talk about the series in this review is because the soundtrack is the emotional thread of what the series wants to convey. Dexter's soundtrack is dark and introspecting. The nuances and the crescendos are very well crafted and deliver the precise emotional tone.

It would be hard to comprehend the various flavors of this music without the context of the series. To me certain pieces of the music are a master piece. Surprisingly the reason Dexter series caught my attention was because of the strangely appealing title music. I found the music very intriguing and started watching the series.

Many Dexter fans think that Season 4 is the best season of the series so far. The same can be said for it's soundtrack.

The soundtrack features a compilation of music that appears in Season 4, including a lot of cool Latin music (the show takes place in Miami). However, the best part of the CD is the original score by Daniel Licht. This is some of the best music for a TV series that I have ever heard, it truly captures the spirit of the show. For those who own the previous soundtracks, there is some overlap in the music (particularly the Main Title music by Rolfe Kent). But other key themes, such as the Blood Theme, evolve with each season and thus are slightly different.

Though I prefer the buy the CD, this music is also available in the MP3 Format.
