5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful variety of selections., April 12, 2002

This review is from: Dhama Suna (Audio CD)
Dhama Suna offers both secular and sacred music. There are translations of the lyrics into English, French and German. Some backgound information is also provided in the notes/booklet. The sound quality is excellent both for voices and instruments. The Cover picture is of an 8 year old Tibetan girl named Yama photographed by Phil Borges for Tibetan Portrait. I confess to really enjoying selection 2. Yar-lung Tin-sang which according to the notes is a beer drinking song. There is also a very beautiful love song--7. Dra-nyen Shap-dro. There is nothing disappointing to hear. The selection reveals that there is more to Tibetan music than sacred chants. Very enjoyable cd. Even my teenagers will play it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Open Mind Required; Perfect Meditative CD, March 7, 2002
This review is from: Dhama Suna (Audio CD)
Picked this CD up at a local bookstore (you know which one). I also have a Gregorian Chant CD but wanted something a little bit on the Eastern side of things. This CD is perfect if a person wants to get in a 'meditative' state of mind (i.e. block out the trivial/distracting things and just focus on what's important to them). I listen to this CD all the time just for that purpose.

This is my first (and only) Buddhist Chant CD so the first time I listened to it it definitely sounded different. But I knew what I wanted from this CD (something to get me into a meditative mood) and it definitely gave that. All the chants are in Tibetan so don't expect to understand any of it.

If you keep an open mind and you'll probably like it. I know I like the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sounds, November 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dhama Suna (Audio CD)
This is a great compilation CD of tibetan sounds. It has deep mantra chanting, folk singing, etc. The quality and compositions of the sounds are clear. I own several tibetan sound CDs (chanting and singings). I highly recommend this CD as it has a great mixture of all the characteristics.
