5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh twist on Vintage licks May 18, 2004
Format:Audio CD
Wow--what a great album this is! It's a refreshing little treat of true, bare bones rock n roll in a time when the popular music is nothing but a bunch of lipsynching glamour wannabees--both male and female. This album and band evoke sounds of old Allman Brothersr Band days gone by, as well as a taste of Black Crowes and a pinch of Bad Company to boot. The guitar work shreds as well as the shared vocals approach, and the rhythm can't be topped. This is an hour of groovin' rock, souther style sound, of which the musical landscape hasn't heard in a long time--turn it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Band, Great Album! October 20, 2004
Format:Audio CD
I've had the pleasure of seeing The Steepwater Band since they're from my home area and they're a great band, so getting this CD was a given! Every track is a winner, but my favorite is "Back To The Bottle", with some hard driving slide guitar and soulful vocals.

If you think this CD is good, you've got to see this band live; they not only rock, but can lay down some wicked lowdown blues! I only wish they could get more national recognition and get signed to a bigger label; they certainly are deserving of it!

5.0 out of 5 stars rock and roll the way it should be! June 6, 2004
By TOMW
Format:Audio CD
wow! since i am slightly familiar with these guys, it didn't take me long to go out and purchase this disc the day it came out! folks, this is one that will take you back to when rock and roll was just that! there's nothing pretentious here! go into this expecting some good old fashioned rock music the way it used to be! any fan of the stones, faces, humble pie, black crowes, and/or the legendary bluesmen will be greatly rewarded for giving this disc a spin! thank god there are still bands out there who are rock and roll true believers!!! that said, everybody who thinks they are music fans, go out and pick this up today!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys rawk! February 24, 2006
By Mo
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Absolutely incredible band. I just got turned on to these guys. Money well spent. If you like your rock Southern and your blooze jumpy, this disc is for you. "Dead Horse" is a rawkin' song in the Stones vein. "Back to the Bottle" and "Jammin' Down Southern" have great slide work. And "Black Cat's Path" has great riffs. If you wanna hear how good this guy is with a slide, check out their version of "Mean Old World" on their website.

5.0 out of 5 stars Supersweet rock n roll October 14, 2005
By Phil
Format:Audio CD
This is one of my favorite Chicago area bands, and I've seen them a dozen or so times around town. The album, in a word, is fantastic. This is great bluesy roots southern seventies feeling rock AND roll (both are important, I hope you realize), by talented musicians who know their way around a stage, and, apparently, a studio. And a guitar store, holy moly. Someone got the big catalog and went all out there. YEE HAW!
