The plastic lens scratched almost immediately after I put my camera in the bag.

It's very bulky so it's a bit hard to take photos, and you can't adjust your settings while you have the case on (well, not very easily).

I used it nearly every day for a week in the Gulf of Mexico and the pictures turned out great.

This was a tough review for me to write since water got into the housing on my last snorkeling excursion on my vacation. I subsequently inspected the bag pretty thoroughly, and put it under pressure under water for a while, and couldn't get it to leak again. I was in a hurry when I put the camera in that last time, so am concluding I didn't seal it properly and am not counting off stars on the review -- but if you buy one make sure to be meticulous when sealing it, or it can get expensive.

My use for it -

I was heading to Maui on vacation and planning to do a lot of snorkeling. I have a Canon 40D and some decent lenses, and am towards the enthusiast side of the scale (shoot RAW, play with the settings a lot, etc), and wanted an option to take pictures while snorkeling.

There aren't a lot of good options without going to a much higher budget range-

-Buy a Quality Waterproof Case - There are great waterproof cases out there that are rated for diving and would fit my 40D with total access to the controls, but they cost several times as much as my camera is worth (around $1500) and I couldn't justify that for the amount I would use it.

-Rent a Quality Waterproof Case - This is still expensive - BorrowLenses rents some for cameras a little more current than mine but it would have run $500+ to rent the housing and the lens port for the vacation even if I had a newer camera where housings were available.

-Buy or rent a waterproof point and shoot - cost-wise this was not the worst way to go, and depending on the camera this might also work deeper for scuba, but I've gotten spoiled with the larger SLR sensor and the responsive, non-laggy shutter.

PROS:
The WP-S5 worked great for my Nikon D3000 with 18-55mm kit lens.
I used it nearly every day for a week in the Gulf of Mexico and the pictures turned out great.
Finger holes were usable and I could (with some effort) adjust the zoom on the lens. Even the buttons on the back face were usable.

CONS:
The plastic lens cap of the WP-S5 was easily scratched by the serrated metal edge of my Sigma DG UV filter on my camera lens (which is stuck on the lens). I used black electrical tape around the rim of the UV filter to stop it from scratching. This then left black plastic on the plastic lens cap, but was cleanable. White masking tape might also work but I haven't tested it.

OTHER THOUGHTS:
I was forced to put lots of air in the bag prior to closing it up in order to give the lens enough room to change size while auto-focusing. Otherwise the motor would grind as the lens pushed up against the cap and fail to focus. An IF (internal focus) lens would have been pretty useful here, as well as to probably stop most of the scratching on the cap.
The included silica gel packets are necessary to keep the inside of the bag from fogging. You should consider buying extra packets if you plan on using the WP-S5 a lot.

BOTTOM LINE:
It works and will keep your camera dry, but the plastic lens cap is unfortunately easily scratched.

Bought this for my family Trip to Hawaii (Jan 18-25, 2012). I would highly recommend using this before you REALLY need to. It takes some user knowledge to get right. I used by Canon T2i and wide angle lens (10-22mm). The first thing I noticed is that zoomed all the way out, I'd get the front end of the bag enclosure in the shot. I learned I had to use both hands to take a shot, One for pressing the floppy tube like ending snug against the lens, the other to snap the photo through the small finger sleeve made to reach the trigger. This means you can't swim and shoot. (float and shoot, yes). I set all my camera settings before inserting in the bag (I went with aperture priority) and let the camera figure out exposure. I wanted a larger field of focus, so shot around F8. I did get some good photos of my boys playing in the water and have attached them to review. I also recommend getting out as much air as possible before sealing up the bag, otherwise it's a floating buoy and very cumbersome. All in all, I got some shots that are really cool, completely unique perspectives of the sky above and water below the surface. It'll depend on the users skill and practice. It was worth the money to me. (Real camera shells cost around 1,200 bucks!)

I planned a camping trip to a state park where the main attraction is a spring. I wanted to take pictures, but was stuck: I either had to buy multiple disposable cameras or a waterproof bag for my SLR (Nikon D3100). I chose the bag for two reasons: 1) the cost of buying several waterproof cameras plus developing them would tally around the price of this bag, and 2) I found a great review of the product online (capturemyimage.net, search for "dicapac"). Here is my own review of the camera bag.

Let me first say that the product was delivered very quickly (ordered Friday night and received Monday afternoon). The box came with instructions that emphasized testing the product before use. I placed napkins inside the bag, closed it as instructed, and then submerged it in the sink while adding some pressure and movement. The instructions say that if your bag does not pass this test, it can be exchanged for another one. Thankfully, mine was good to go!

The day I was going in the spring, I inserted the camera in the bag and closed it as tightly and meticulously as possible. I read in some other reviews to insert silica gel packs in the bag to absorb any accumulated condensation (I purchased these: Aquapac 905 Aquapac Desiccant Sachets Pack Of 5) and placed those in the bag as well. My friends and I were using floaties, so I didn't have to submerge the camera right off the bat. Instead, I took my time and slowly placed the camera in the water, as I felt comfortable. The bag gained my trust and it wasn't long before I freely took shots almost completely underwater.
