I bought this for my grandma who is slowly losing her sight.. She RAVES about how wonderful this product is.. Very sturdy, light, and magnifies the material very well. A must buy for those struggling to see.

The magnifier lamp is easy to assemble and reasonably priced. It also uses a standard light bulb, so we didn't have to worry about purchasing additional bulbs.

I couldn't be happier with the magnifier lamp I bought for my elderly mother. Not only is it a great product but the customer service was wonderful, prompt to reply and very helpful. I highly recommend this supplier.

received with two broken wheels, then the very hot magnifying lens fell on my face. do you really want it now?

This item arrived on time - but in non-working condition. It appeared to be a returned item and had no instructions included. I requested a replacement; however, customer service was a zero and I had no response from them. I was looking forward to this item for my 97 year old grandmother - oh well. Amazon guarantee was great, though. No complaints with them at all.

The base is very light and the top heavy is alot heavier therefore, making the unit very unsteady and wobbly.

I hate clichés, but "You get what you pay for", unfortunately, applies to this purchase experience. Having said that, however, let's look at what you get for the $15.99 this item NOW costs on Amazon. When I ordered it, Amazon listed it for $29.99, but now that I see the price is now almost 50% of what it was, I have to revise my review and give the item 3 stars instead of the intended 2 starts I had been planning to give it. For $15.99, you'll get everything the product claims to deliver. It does illuminate quite nicely with a regular bulb (although installing the bulb allows you to see how flimsy the item is designed), and its magnification - at least for my purposes - has been fine. It also has a very nice span of coverage, factoring in both its rotational and extension abilities. But that's where a disclaimer needs to be: WARNING! Adjust the span very carefully, lest the clamp which "tightens" the arm to the table comes undone, causing the entire thing to collapse. While it's true that there appear to be s4 crew holes in the clamp to you to permanently attach it to the table, I really don't want to have to do this. Besides, the quality of the plastic clamp itself is highly questionable in terms of whether any screws used to mount it to a table would break the plastic surrounding the pre-drilled holes. The hinging mechanism that allows you to flip the light box up and down is also extremely flimsy - in fact, two of the tiny screws that secure it to the arm had come off during shipping. I found them in the packaging and re-installed them, which was no easy task.

But for $15.99 - and I suppose even for $29.99, given how much these types of lamps typically cost - it's an okay deal, as long as you remember to take certain precautions when using it.

I bought this lamp primarily to paint details on my plastic models as a hobby. I read the reviews on this item and I looked at many other products both at Amazon and locally. The features of this lamp attracted me over all others because of 1) its 3x magnification - many others in this price range are only 2x magnification, 2) a 4" mag glass where others are only 3" and 3) a standard bulb socket rather than a round florescent. I installed a CFL in mine rather than a 40W incandescent and I get good, bright light with much less heat and lower electricity usage to boot. The bulb housing of this unit is made of plastic. Plastic and heat don't get along well so using a CFL should extend the life of the lamp. I am very impressed - I can't see paying $100 for a mag lamp. Although the bulb housing is plastic, the electrics look well enough made that I have no worries of it breaking or shorting out. I was also worried that the springs were going to be too weak to hold the lamp up (I read that here on another review) but I can tell you they are perfectly adequate to hold the lamp steady. I am also very pleased with the size of the magnifier and the quality of the glass - it has no distortion to the sides and is the perfect size for working with small objects. Money well spent!

The lamp is not of good Quality, within 2 days the clamping device broke due to the fact that its made out of cheap plastic, within the 4th day the sauder joint that joins the wire to the light socket was loose and I had to resauder it.
