From one mother to another,

As expected, the book brought me to tears numerous times, but it also fortified my belief that families like mine will get through this and live well despite having a young child with diabetes. Ms. Zosul's brief vignettes and prose so accurately described the turmoil and struggle we face everyday with diabetes -- sometimes on a raw surface level or buried deep within. As I reread the book I was heartened by Ms. Zosul's evolution away from the inital pain and horror of the diagnosis of her daughter to the realization that we can get through it. I want my extended family and close friends to read this book!

Hurts so good!,

This book truly is written by an expert... a mom! Mothers of small kids with diabetes pay a big price and I think they are the unsung heros of our society. Imagine, never being able to take a break for years on end. Never being able to really let go for fear your child might experience a blood sugar too high or too low sending her to the hospital... or worse. My son has diabetes and has told me several times that it's not fair and that "he'll never have a carefree childhood". This book says the same thing for the mothers and the kids they care for who live with this crappy disease. Thanks Renea for helping so many express their feelings and to understand yours. Let's help the JDRF destroy this disease once and for all.

This beautiful handmade book is a captivating collection of poetry, essays and stories. Renea gives us a glimpse into the life of her diabetic daughter, and the heart of the mother who must live the disease with her. Her writing is nicely enhanced by the poignant, original drawings by Jeanne Young.
