Jo Kendrick is the Nurse Manager for Nurse Practitioner services in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal/Fetal Medicine at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Her experience includes 14 years as Head Nurse of Labor and Delivery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She currently provides antenatal and postpartum care for low- and high-risk adolescents and adult women. She is also a member of the diabetes management team caring for pregnant women with pregestational and gestational diabetes. In that capacity, Ms. Kendrick provides preconception and postconception education to women and their families regarding all aspects of diabetes management. Follow-up of glycemic control with dietary manipulation and insulin adjustments as necessary is provided throughout the pregnancy for women enrolled in the program in collaboration with Perinatology.

Ms. Kendrick is an active member of the Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and has served as an officer in the local chapter. She is also a member of the Gamma Chi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International and has served as an officer. She is a member of the Tennessee Perinatal Association. Her certifications include National Certification Corporation (NCC) Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, formerly called Obstetric and Gynecology Nurse Practitioner. She is also certified by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) as a diabetes educator.

She is reviewer for the Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN) and The American Journal of Maternal Child Nursing (MCN). She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing (JPNN). She has authored numerous publications on obstetric-related topics and presented both locally and nationally. Her research interests include maternal surgery during pregnancy and diabetes.
