I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good soundtrack.

I have 26 songs from the FTP and there's 17 on this CD...most of the songs overlap, but obviously the FTP had more.

I can hear and feel the fun from the CD while I enjoy the game from the 3rd. = )

Several years ago Blizzard offered this music for FREE on their FTP. I guess they figured they could make more money if the packaged it up and sold it. Anyhow, I got the majority of the songs that are on this CD from their FTP. I have 26 songs from the FTP and there's 17 on this CD...most of the songs overlap, but obviously the FTP had more. It even had outtakes that are not on the CD. However, the CD has about 2-3 tracks that were not on the FTP (or so it looks). Maybe I'll buy them individually from iTunes.
As far as the music itself - Yeah, this music is awesome. I find myself collecting soundtracks for games, (e.g. halo series, C&C and even the original Unreal) and listening to them at work. So, if you liked the music in the game or some of those game soundtracks I just mentioned, you should love this soundtrack.
However, I find that this music doesn't really work well for ringtones. Oh well.

If anyone is looking for a soundtrack which is subtle yet inspiring, Diablo 2 offers it. Some of the greatest pieces of writing I have ever written have come while listening to this soundtrack. The music almost takes you out of this realm mentally and spiritually. It is very relaxing and engaging. I've thought about having this music played continually throughout my house over a home theatre speaker system if I ever get time to install it.

This is a great piece of Video game music. Has All the level songs -the X-pan and a few others. It has the Tracks I wanted and I love the artwork on the CD. Fits well with the upcoming Diablo 3 Game. I can hear and feel the fun from the CD while I enjoy the game from the 3rd. = )

Blizzard used to give this music away for free after Diablo II came out, and I was fortunate to download all of it. Not just the tracks on this CD, but also the ones from the expansion pack. But the ones they offered for free download are actually longer than the ones listed on Itunes and for sale on this CD, so it seems difficult to now get even the complete version of what they once offered for free.

As for the music itself, obviously it's the same music you'll hear in the game, great stuff and certainly worth having for those who enjoy this type of stuff. As for this actual CD, if you can't find the complete tracks, including outtakes, that were once available for free, getting the CD or downloading it from Itunes would be the last resort.

I am commenting on the soundtrack and not specifically the CD offered here. I got the soundtrack free from Blizzard many years ago. Its an excellent listen. Probably moreso for those who played the game and can feel an extra sense of immersion through rememberance. I can't seem to find my soundtrack anymore and am not quite willing to pay the price listed here. Its certainly a worthy listen if you can find it somewhere.

I'd classify it as new age jazz/ electric jazz/ tribal/folk music. With more emphasis on tribal/folk music.
