Mr Danielson has written another great suspense novel. It is especially enjoyable if you live in the SF Bay area as the geographical references are accurate. Fun read!

This book is a good read if you like a good mystery. I have met the author, he is a retired Navy pilot and currently a pilot for FedEx. A very personable and interesting man. He has a great mind for catching the reader up in the book.

Diablo's Shadow - Filled with supense, tension and a shocking outcome.,
This review is from: Diablo's Shadow (Paperback)
I was waiting in a gas station parking lot the other day, watching a "custody" transfer of a child from one parent to another. This incident brought Diablo's Shadow back to mind - the incredible tension between two estranged parents during an exchange. This book takes on the question, "What happens when a child disappears while in a parent's custody?" In Diablo's Shadow, this of course, happens. The relationship between these two parents is pivotal in determining the course of action they will take and how they delicately handle an emotionally charged situation. Diablo's Shadow does a superb job of telling their story, suctioning the reader from page to page. It both chillingly thrills the reader and demands acceptance to the outcome. Diablo's Shadow is a powerful, third novel - well crafted and full of insight.

As a mystery/suspense novelist, I read with a critical eye. Mark W. Danielson's Diablo's Shadow immediately drew me in and held me suspended until the very end. It's a gripping tale that's nearly impossible to put down, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a suspenseful plot. I confess that I shed a tear or two before the conclusion.

Not being familiar with Mr. Danielson's work, I decided to take a flyer. (So to speak, as he is an airline pilot when not penning mysteries.) In short, wow! Mark's plot is ingenious, and his writing moves like wildfire. I was humming along near the end, convinced I'd figured out who the bad guy was ... and the twist hit me like a shotgun blast. Totally blindsided me. Months later, I still think about how caught I was by it. All in all, a fine piece of writing that I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Diablo's Shadow is written with such passion that the reader is drawn into the story, so much so that they might feel regret they cannot be part of the volunteer search party. It is a story filled with aspiration, indignation, panic, anxiety, and fear, all emotions that make a good suspense novel better. But there is also a very personal aspect, with love and hate, accusation and forgiveness. This is a superb, amazing, and breathtaking story, but these superlative adjectives do not adequately convey how powerful this novel is. (Written by Mysterious Reviews, posted by author.)

Suspenseful and Heart-wrenching; unexpected conclusion!,
This review is from: Diablo's Shadow (Paperback)
Mark has done it again and penned a genuinely intriguing and thought-provoking mystery novel, resulting in a totally unexpected and surprising conclusion; consistant with his previous excellent works.
His obvious grasp and personal experience level of the story's geographic area and subject matter, along with his painstaking character development, makes it all the more interesting and credible. I very much look forward to his future literary offerings! |
