Editorial Reviews

It's EVIL COME EVIL GO when Sara Jane, the "Anti-Sex Lady," embarks on a mission to rid the world of "pleasurable sex." How? By picking up men and hacking them to death! Arriving in Hollywood, Sister Sara moves in with lesbian pal Penny, the First Disciple in "Sister Sara's Sacred Order of The Sisters of Complete Subjugation," and uses Penny to lure dirty-minded men home where the two church ladies can chop them up. Bloody, sexy, and surprisingly funny, this twisted shocker is a subversive collision of religious fervor with Seventies-style sex and violence. Gory, gory, hallelujah!

Plus: Not the smartest couple in the world, Bill and Lisa spend the last night of their "swinging European vacation" at the haunted castle of spooky Countess Dominova, just in time for Bill to make love to a succubus, Lisa to become the "Bride of the Devil," and everyone to wallow in some serious TERROR AT ORGY CASTLE...

And: When an average Joe is mistaken for a CIA agent, he and his hooker girlfriend are targeted by THE HAND OF PLEASURE, a gang of growling, cat-like "love robots" created by a pudgy mad scientist known as Dr. Dreadful. Three utterly-insane sexy shockers direct from the vault of producer Manuel S. Conde (Deep Jaws) which prove, once again, that sex can be scary.

This dvd comprises three movies, no special features, but at least chapters selections--fairly standard.

1) "Evil Come Evil Go" (1972) (4 Stars) Tame as a horror movie, and fairly conservative concerning exploitation, it almost warrants only 3 stars. Still, it has a certain interesting appeal for its genre, and comes with a mostly intact original sound track, and probably original video. Comprising seven separate nude scense, the movie tells the story of a crazy religious woman, Sara Jane, bent on ridding "this world of pleasurable sex and evil men". She recuits a disciple Penelope to assist her in this quest, finally resulting in a three body count by the movie's end. Though possibly from the original release, two scenes, each with Penelope and a victim, obviously possess editing sound overlays. Lastly, a surpising edit seems to appear when Sara Jane is denied her free meal at a local hot dog stand, and replies with "F... You, Bas....". Did they edit this, or was the mike not turned on? Who knows. Commentaries can somtimes clear up such little questions. :)

2) "The Hand Of Pleasure" (1971) (3 Stars) Frankly, this movie had a lot of potential, but with extensive usage of sound overlays during many soft core exploition scenes, it just leaves the viewer wishing they could have seen the original deal. Using a fairly simplistic plot, it involves the standard mad scientist converting women to animalist slaves to ferret out information from spies and diplomats. Our hero Joe gets involved and of course finally saves the day along with the local American "sex research student". Apparently made for the British market, it spouts an amazing 13 scenes of absent clothing.

This is a triple feature, and honestly I'm not sure why "Evil Come Evil Go" gets top-billing because it's the worst of the three. Although it certainly IS the weirdest, and since the releasing company is Something Weird, maybe I have my answer.

"Evil Come Evil Go." Trippy, incredibly-cheap film in which a morally-questionable moral crusader goes around picking up men, screwing them and then killing them, which she claims she has been called to do by God since all men are evil. Along the way she picks up this incredibly-unattractive lesbian who she quickly converts to a slave. In between we have a lot of nudity and semi-explicit fake sex scenes (one of them actually might be real...certainly seems to be). Unfortunately the naked women range from mildly ugly to wretched, with the exception of one and she doesn't get too exposed. As weird as this sounds, I promise that it's actually much weirder...particularly the ending which will leave you saying, " that the end?!"

"Terror at Orgy Castle." Certainly the best of the lot if you're looking strictly at the sex and hot girls category. The whole thing is done in voiceover, which I find to be strange in and of itself. Plotline is that an attractive couple (the wife is gorgeous, actually) go on a honeymoon to this old castle, which is run by a countess (or a count...she seems to have the ability to switch hit) who, as the name implies, encourages and even forces orgies. It's pretty much wall-to-wall sex. I found myself wondering what other movies that the castle set had appeared in, because there is no way that this Z-grade stinker could afford to build it. Of course this movie stinks so good that I would have given it four stars all on its own.

Although these are all low budget, with cardboard sets, flat lighting, and bad sound, they are fun to watch in a retro kinda way. More interesting is that Hand and Orgy are both produced by the same company, and feature the same plot twist, involving men being drained of energy through oral sex. Reminded of the mad general in Strangelove, warning of "losing our precious bodily fluids." Somebody behind both these films obviously shared this terror. I see the other reviewer here claims the soundtracks on these two are redone, but I can't imagine a different soundtrack would improve these. I like the clumsiness, and somewhat inept filming, being a fan of early sex films (for one thing, no silicone), but these are not for everyone.
