4.0 out of 5 stars A Help In Understanding Therapy, February 25, 2010

This review is from: Diagnosing and Treating Mental Illness: A Guide for Physicians, Nurses, Patients and their Families (Demers Books Health and Well-Being series) (Paperback)
For a person like myself who has been in therapy this is a very helpful book. It provides in non-jargony terms a big picture of mental disturbance and its treatment and a plain-spoken outline of current theory behind mental distress and successful therapies. I think the book would also be worthwhile for people who have friends or relatives who suffer from mild to severe forms of mental disorders.

I like this book. Very informative for the layman, easy reading, and not overly technical. Dr. Wylie wrote a good guide.

This is the book I've long wanted to read - a book by an expert who can explain mental illness to non-experts. As someone who has a mentally ill family member, this book is exactly what I needed to understand his illness and treatment. I hope that Dr. Wiley will write more books. His expertise and his clarity are much needed by the rest of us.
