Editorial Reviews

Emmy award winner Dick Van Dyke stars as Dr. Mark Sloan, a dedicated doctor who dabbles in detective work in DIAGNOSIS MURDER. Caring and compassionate, Dr. Sloan enlists the help of his police detective son, Steve (Barry Van Dyke) whenever he suspects one of his patients is the victim of foul play. And he won’t rest until the bad guys are put to bed - permanently! Working alongside Sloan is pathologist Amanda Bentley (Victoria Rowell). For star performances and classic "whodunit" suspense, the right prescription is DIAGNOSIS MURDER.

All works fine on a table top DVD player.

Murder mystery shows can be so predictable..quirkly lead character, good cast, good ensemble, good writing....And then there's Diagnosis Murder.

I am so pleased season 3 is finally been released. This in my oppion is when diagnosis murder really started to take off gone are jack and delores and in comes jessie travis played by charlie schlater(police academy 7 and 18 again). I have always been of the oppion that the strength of the program lies not in the fact that their is a murder every week but the strength lies in the relationships between the principal characters ie mark treats jessie and amanda as part of his family and that comes across on screen and as such you the viewer feel part of that same family. I think that is largely down to the legend that is dick van dyke and his perfomance on the screen. I can't wait for this season to be released hopefully the other seasons will come out as quickly as the previous seasons

Season 3 brings more mystery and suspense as Dr. Mark Sloan of community general hospital investigates along with his son.. A great series, keep rolling out these seasons Paramount! This show deserves 10 stars out of 10 not 1 out of 5, cough cough.. If you're looking to spend a good 45 minutes with excellent dynamic characters then this is the set for you!

Murder mystery shows can be so predictable..quirkly lead character, good cast, good ensemble, good writing....And then there's Diagnosis Murder. Quite easily one of the best of the soft core murder mystery shows, Season three gave us no Jack and Delores. They added to the program with their unique personalities, but with the addition of Charlie Schlatter (Travis) the cast undergoes a transformation.

The writing is still top notch, but like any show, they can take a while to build a strong cast and following. This is the beginning, but the first two seasons are no slouches either!

Give me DM over CSI anyday!

Dick Van Dyke is a GREAT actor. This is a great series for the family to watch. Better than what is currently on tv.

when the writers strike was on my husband and i realized the only shows we missed seeing was monk and psyc. we started buying the old tv shows. it seems the stuff now is all about sex. diagnosis murder is the best of the old tv shows we have purchased. a good mystery, excelent acting, and a laugh or two. now we have season 1,2,3 and hope 4 will be out soon. i also recomend murder she wrote and matlock.

My grandfather introduced me to Dick Van Dyke's work as a kid, and I watched this show with him, faithfully, every week until his unfortunate passing. This show was GREAT television: tight plots, solid storytelling, but most importantly, CHEMISTRY and relationships between the characters.

Looking back as an adult, the show was a bit "wobbly" in seasons 1 and 2, something about some of the relationships just wasn't solid or cemented. That all changed in season 3, when we were introduced to the often over-eager Dr. Jesse Travis (Charlie Schlatter,) and like he'd been the missing puzzle piece, everything fell into place. Mark took Jesse under his wing as a mentor and surrogate father figure, Steve took to Jesse like a flustered older brother, and Amanda took him in with a fond exasperation.

I do hope we'll soon see the rest of the series released to DVD soon, as season 3 was when it really gelled and took off.

My wife and I really enjoy these shows. If you are tired of the burping, gas passing trash on to days shows, you will enjoy watching these entertaining family shows. We got rid of all our programming because of the lack of talent of new writers, we enjoy life so much more now.

When my hubby and I get chance to watch T.V then one of our favorite programmes is DM. It is great escapism form our hectic work and social schedual and helps us keep our sence of humour; knowing that Mark and co get the baddie everytime.
The characters work well and the story lines are never dull and the series does not take itself too seriously, how very refreshing!!!
If anyone does not like this programme I suggest they find something they do like and keep their comments to themselves!

Diagnosis Murder Seasons 4 thru 8
I got Diagnosis Murder 1-3 this Christmas (08) and already watch all of them in two days.
It seemd like Diagnosis Murder, season 3 came out one year ago. I really wish they would hurry and release season 4-8. Is there a petition we can signed for season 4 and all of them??

Do we hear season four?
they seem to be released every 6 months or so. Season 3 was released in Dec. The next season should be in the June-July time frame. We should hear some news in March or April.
