This review is from: Diagnostic Imaging in Critical Care: A Problem Based Approach, 1e (Paperback)
This is one of those books you wish that you had owned right at the beginning of your medical career. It give you a no-nonsense, straight to the point guide to the interpretation of x-rays, CT and MRI scans. The biggest hurdle of studying radiology for the non-radiologists is not knowing much anatomy you need to know. You can spend hours going through your old anatomy textbook from medical school. However, that is often non-productive because those books do not tell you what you need to know to interpret x-rays or CT scans. This book tells you exactly what you need to know in radiological anatomy. And it does it in less than two pages for each regional anatomy! For example, to learn how to interpret head CT, you can read its two pages summary on cranial anatomy. After that, browse through its many excellent examples of head pathology commonly seen at bedside (it also includes an excellent DVT of all the examples provided in the book). Within hours, you can comfortably interpret any head CT and know exactly what to look for. Of course, to learn more about the finer points of radiology, you need to read widely and dig into more specailized books for details. However, this book gives you a solid foundation to start your learning. It also gives you a set of useful radiology vocabulary to use when describing X-ray or CT scans findings. This is a great help because it makes you looks reasonably intelligent during ward round, and can be life-saving when it comes to board exams....
