Slightly disappointed, November 20, 2011
This review is from: Diagnostic Pathology: Gastrointestinal: Published by Amirsys (Hardcover)
Pros:
- Lay out as point form which I like.
- Some tables are good.
- A thin book, which you have to judge yourself whether this is pros or cons.
Cons:
Pictures are slight smaller then I expected. Text fonds are the largest i have ever seen in histopath books which personally think it is a waste of space.
Lack of discussion:
- focal enhanced gastritis barely mentioned in occasional chapters (despite Greenson's publication)
Enteropathy associated T-cell lymphoma
- paragraphs spent on clinical issue appear longer than diagnostic path paragraph. Discussion on immunohistochemical stain pattern is minimal.
Web version:
- Not intuitive enough:
..........difficult to browse from one chapter to next chapter (have to go back to main menu and click on the chapter you want);
..........search function: no highlight on keyword searched in text.
..........If I search a term "IPSID", it provided the chapter of "MALT lymphoma". But there is no mention of which chapter is this so if I want to go to the printed version, I am getting no where. Even the tables and figures got no number which at least give a clue.
..........If I search "MUC2" and click one of the result "mucinous cystic neoplasms" it go to the chapter and I could not find the term "MUC2". Ooops... it was in the "relevant tables" frame. (You can always call me stupid)
..........Some content in printed version is absent in e-version e.g. from Helicobacter Heilmannii MICROSCOPIC PATHOLOGY
Key Descriptors
* Predominant Pattern/Injury Type
..........Inflammatory (ABSENT in web)
* Predominant Cell/Compartment Type
..........Epithelial (ABSENT in web)

Extremely informative and authoritative text, November 7, 2009
This review is from: Diagnostic Pathology: Gastrointestinal: Published by Amirsys (Hardcover)
I had the distinct pleasure of reading Diagnostic Pathology over the weekend and this is clearly written by experts in the field. I was both deeply impressed and humbled by the depth of knowledge that authors' share in this text. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to broaden their horizons in the field of GI pathology.
