The product itself is great. This has saved me lost of money on detergent. However, walmart has bars for $.97 each. Much more economical.

We've always had a bar of Fels-Naptha soap in the laundry room sink, for scrubbing our hands after one of those tough outside or garage jobs that involves lots of dirt and/or oil. It's the only soap that can really clean our hands.

However, cat owners might also consider a bar of Fels-Naptha soap for the following tasks:

--For those cats who like to chew on electrical cords (especially the thin wires on Christmas trees), try rubbing the wires with a bar of Fels-Naptha Soap. Since I started this practice, our Christmas tree lights have stayed lit all season, instead of suddenly going dark a day or two after the tree is decorated.

--Rubbing a wet Fels-Naptha bar around the top of your plastic garbage bag where it sticks out from the garbage can, also keeps plastic-chewing cats from making holes in your garbage bag, and keeps the plastic from clogging up their digestive tracts.

--If you don't mind your stuffed furniture smelling like Fels-Naptha, it will also keep cats from clawing that expensive upholstery. Fels-Naptha is also much cheaper than the sprays that are sold to do the same job, and frankly I think the soap smells better than the sprays.

I chose to rate this product because it's the best ever for a clean, fresh laundry..., Economical, and affordable... I make my own laundry detergent as my grandmother did with this same product...

Used this in a homemade laundry soap recipe...Works great. It had to be grated then disolved but the end product is great and a whole lot less money than buying store bought laundry soap.

I ordered this item after being unable to find it in any stores in my area. I purchased it for the sole purpose of making homemade laundry detergent, and it has been wonderful! I have tried other soaps in my detergent recipe, but this one is the best one yet. I will definitely order more once I use these up!

This soap is GOLDEN. I needed to get blood stains out of white sheets and this works perfectly, even on dried blood. Just wet the fabric with water where you are cleaning the spot, and rub the spot with the bar of soap until the soap is well worked into the fabric. If the stain has still not shifted, rinse with cold water and repeat. Once you've spot-cleaned, just wash the items as you normally would, eg in the washing machine (with cold water - remember that heat sets stains). I have not encountered any stains that could not be removed (as long as they are stains that have not been heat-set by putting them in the drier, but even these can be shifted to a degree with Fels-Naptha).

For years I had used a stain remover that was my mom's favorite. It had an unpleasant chemical smell and I'd breathe some in when I sprayed it which caused mild burning and irritation in my through and sinuses, but by golly, the stuff would get almost any stain out!

I've been replacing chemical based cleaners in our home with safer alternatives for some time so I was happy when I came across this. It really really really works! I've yet to see a stain it can't get out, and it even got the ones that my old stain remover couldn't get out. I'm amazed and I love it!

I also grate a little bit in each load to boost my detergent (for that look into borax and baking soda). It smells nice and is very gentle on clothes and skin. Who knows what the other chemical cleaners are doing to us...

Edit on 30 May 2013: bought these again and they are a slightly different product than advertised. They have a new scent to them than when we purchased a few months ago. Not a bad scent, just different. I'd be concerned for people with sensitive skin who might react badly to a change in fragrances.

My wife uses these to make laundry detergent. They work great, and it definitely saves us a little bit of money.
