4.0 out of 5 stars Succeeds where others fail
Short of hiring an exterminator, the home consumer has only a limited set of options. And each depends on the ants you have in your home. I believe mine are Paratrechina longicornis. If you are unsure, trap some in clear tape and bring them to an expert. If your pest control company cannot id the critter, choose another. Knowledge is your best friend. In any event, Terro,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont waste your money
I live in California which has ant infestation like no other state I have been in. (Florida is a close second and Texas for fire ants). I tried all of them to include Combat brand and Raid brands as well as Terro. I tried all three at the same time and let me tell you, ants will actually find a way of avoiding Combat and Raid brands. But the Terro liquid brand was like...

If you are unsure, trap some in clear tape and bring them to an expert. If your pest control company cannot id the critter, choose another. Knowledge is your best friend. In any event, Terro, Raid and Grant are ineffective against this species. Combat is the only mass-market brand of ant bait/trap I have found to be moderately effective against my problem ants. As in life, experimentation helps, and one of the other brands might be helpful to you. Raid (a similarly packaged, but differently formulated product) works great in the Northeast, but it has met its match in the tropics, where Combat is the prince of ant killers. The king would be DOT (Disodium Octoborate Tetrahydrate) formulations, but that is a whole other story, and a messy one at that.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real warrior in the combat against black ants, April 30, 2008
By
Honest Abe (Pittsburgh, PA USA) - See all my reviews
I am no ant expert. I have not tried to find out exactly what ants I have. They looked like your average garden variety black ant we see here in the Northeast and Midwest. We had ants showing up through the vents of our house and perhaps through the sliding door. Short of finding exactly how and where these ants where nested we just killed tens of them as we saw them, a rather futile strategy. I bought some of this stuff (Combat) and wow! The ants disappeared like magic in 2 days. They must really like the stuff and given the queen a good dose and voila problem gone. I could not be happier with the result and it's very clean and safe.

1.0 out of 5 stars combat ant traps, July 8, 2009
This review is from: INSECTICIDE,ANT BAIT
I placed the traps on my kitchen counter and the ants went around them like they was not there. What a waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT - REALLY WORKS!!!!!, July 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: INSECTICIDE,ANT BAIT
We have tried many products to get rid of ants and they did nothing. The Combat Ant Bait really works; as soon as you put them out the ants are gone.

They arrived in a timely manner as promised; very pleased with product and seller; would buy again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Well, November 16, 2008
This review is from: INSECTICIDE,ANT BAIT
This product works very well and arrived in a timely manner. However, the shipping cost was about $11 and I paid about $7 in merchandise. Had I known the shipping cost was going to be so high, I would have ordered more, as I had it delivered to an APO address. If you are going to order any, order enough packages to make the shipping cost worth it.
