5.0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong with Jai Uttal!
This CD is different than most music I would use for yoga class, but I love it! It's just the right amount of edginess to make it unique and totally different but yet it's still very appropriate for yoga practice or for just listening to. I find myself humming these songs throughout the day. If you don't like it at first, keep listening. It will grow on you. Although, I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not My Favorite Jai Uttal
I'm a big Jai Uttal fan...he has done some fantastic music and several of his CDs are among my favorites. This one, however, doesn't do it for me. Maybe if I didn't know his other stuff I'd like it better. It's basically an exact repeat of a former album but he let someone get all funky with it and lay some funky techno vibe on top. The result to me is not good. I...

The result to me is not good. I gave him 3 stars for this effort. My gut told me to maybe go 1 star, but my heart won out, since he IS Jai. And also since I know what's he's capable of. Come on, Jai, if you're reading this: bring out another ORIGINAL CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Chanting Vibrations for Yoga and Movement, March 30, 2008
This review is from: Dial M for Mantra (Audio CD)
I have been a jai Uttal fan for years. This is a super new addtion to my collection. It is different than everything else and works perfect for my style of movement and yoga. These remixes are well done and I am happy that I took a chance on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Off The Path, September 14, 2010
This review is from: Dial M for Mantra (Audio CD)
I am a Jai Uttal fan but this album is a less than successful remix of previously-released chants with electronic music. I would really give this 2.5 stars not because it is bad but because it is lame and trendy. Stick with the other Jai albums. If you want electronic or trance then consider Cheb I Sabbah, Karsh Kale, Prem Joshua, Bombay Dub Orchestra, etc. There are others such as those mentioned who do a better job in the trance genre.

I totally support experimentation and collaboration but, this album in my humble opionion, does not stand the test of time and quickly ends up in a stack of seldom if ever played CDs.

I love Jai Uttal. That said--I love these remixes. I was expecting something more along the lines of Table Beat Science, but these are mellow, downtempo chill beats. If you like world, and you like chillout music, give this a listen.

Plus the title is nifty.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love it., January 20, 2008

I usually don't like remixes, but this is awesome. It revisits the original songs and gives them new, funky life. Give the samples a listen if you're not sure. As a massage therapist, I plan on using this for my chair massage events.

I have my headphones on RIGHT NOW and this disc is spinnig in the tray... Sure these may be remixes - but since when is that a bad thing? * Alternates mixes have been a part of the recorded music scene since recorded music was invented. Remixes reveal and explore subtle nuances the original did not, bringing added enjoyment to most listeners. So hey - all purpose review comment comin up: "IF you like this kind of thing, then THIS is the kind of thing you'll like." You like earlier music by this artist? You probably gonna like this too.

Since when is more of a good thing, a bad thing? Enough said.

These remixes are really nice "headphone music" because they have worked the spaces to make it feel good in there.

I thought this would be another great Jai Uttal cd. It is not. It is old stuff mixed with electric funk that makes no sense and doesn't work. I have tried to listen to it several times and now it is in a drawer to be given away or forgotten. Huge disappointment.
