Product Description

2007 opus from Turkey's gothic metal leaders. 'Dialectique' sees their signature sound intact, but with a broadened approach, incorporating elements of dark metal and pop.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quite a dissapointment compared to the previous album Unique, August 7, 2009
After listening to their previous album, Unique, I was really excited about this band and I was looking forward getting this album. Unique album is what early Tristania used to be - heavy, but melodic, with nice female vocals (Özge Özkan) and roaring male vocals (Metehan Mert Çakir). But they were different from the early Tristania, they had something really unique, something which made them a different band. All these are gone with this new album. Unfortunately, for some reason, they follow the Tristania, Theatre of Tragedy and Sirenia steps... The band darkness and heaviness is gone. The album is full with electronic music and sounds more like a pop-gothic album. Actually, they say it too on their myspace website. The very first seconds of the opening song ("Seasons") are proof of that. The roaring male vocals are still present in the album, but they somehow don't blend with the rest. Fortunately, there are still some songs which carry the elements from the "old" Catafalque and don't have that much electronic music but, I think, they don't make the album as good as Unique. I don't understand why some bands follow some "modern" trend and don't stick to what they do best. I guess they will call it experimenting and growing... Or may be it is just me, who don't understand it...

Overall, I would skip this album and stick to the Unique album. I will keep this one in my collection, just to have it on the shelf. I hope they will go back to their roots and will present us with one good and strong 3rd album.
