4.0 out of 5 stars Multi-GPU, March 17, 2010

I got two of these cards for my PT6 mobo to use in CrossFireX mode (multi-GPU).

The cards seems to work decent, nothing super fast but not slow. You will be happy if you want to play modern games at modest graphics settings but if you want all of the eye candy then you will have to go for something more expensive.

Watch out if you are trying to use these in CrossFire mode. The ASUS PT6 has it's two PCIx16 slots right next to one another. This is creating cooling problems for me at the moment because the cards are so close together. If you want to do a multi-GPU with these cards make sure that you check to see if you have enough room for both of them to fit.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent "value" video card, August 31, 2009

I purchased the 4770 after considerable research looking for a reasonably priced, cool running and relatively high performance video card for a newly built computer running Linux. In the 4770 I got everything I was looking for and feel it offers an excellent value for all but the most hard core gamers. Very good 2D and 3D performance, but with one caveat, installing the ATI commercial drivers under Fedora 11 (and SuSE 11.1) was difficult and problematic. If you are a Windows user, this should not be a problem. The only reason my rating is 4 stars versus 5, is the Linux driver issue.

so i bought the last card on the rack at microcenter and, after hours of troubleshooting, found that i have a lemon. because it was the last in stock, and that i foolishly cut out the barcode to get my rebate, i couldn't return or get some store credit. i sent a few messages to diamond but they never replied and so i called, and after waiting for some hours, got the instructions to send it in. it turned out someone, maybe a previous buyer or perhaps the company themselves (more on that later), had tampered the card and refused to fix it. After several calls and e-mails explaining my situation, i gave up and decided to take my $120 loss.

As for my speculation that the company could be responsible with lousy products, i was reminded of a diamond product i bought 5 years ago was also another lemon. that purchase turned out to be a different card altogether and i couldn't return it for a refund. lol

thanks diamond, you stole $200 off of me. i'm never touching your stuff ever again.
