DIAMOND BUTTERFLY: Share Heal Sparkle Shine Fly gives us a glimpse of some traumatic life crises Ms. Marks has not only experienced, but survived. She is both sympathetic and empathetic to those readers who may have gone through similar trials and tribulations of their own. She shares words of encouragement for overcoming life's difficulties, particularly for those who have been abused and mistreated. Ms. Marks lets survivors know they are, indeed, diamond butterflies, and as such will endure if they only believe and keep the faith.
This book is a good foundation, but could have been more substantive to hold reader's attention. The prayers that are offered are inspiring, as are the scriptures. Ms. Marks' efforts are apparent, and she has the skill to further develop her writing.

When I reviewed this book, it was around my (3 months late) time of also seeing the movie produced by Tyler Perry, "Precious". I was able to see and hear the heart of the author as she told her story, not her misery. This book does not recount graphic details, but rather seek out the intimate places that are still in every 'girl' who wants to be healed...wants to be loved...wants to be restored (even if they are now adults). This book has real talk, not church talk. This book provides real prayers; not "big wordy" phrases of a preacher, rather the heart of a woman telling every girls story. The title does not reveal it, but in here you will find an easy read about a hard-to-talk-about situation for anyone who has experienced rape, incest, molestation or any other violation with mature eyes and a sincere heart. It's simple devotions and they are worth sharing!

I've had the opportunity to share this book in a small group setting with the author and a series of women ranging in age and background. I pleasantly say the book releases you from baggage that you were aware of and habits that were formed unconsciously due to life obstacles, influences, and setbacks. In order to move forward in life and build a loving relationship with God you must understand how to love yourself as God loves you. Can I say you gain a sense of freedom when it comes to the prayers that are set for you in this book, the understanding of pain or discomfort and how to move forward and build a positive notion for life, forgiveness, and vulnerability to try again. However, when you try again you are aware how to allow God to move in your life and place your trust in the process that God has for you.
The experience in the class setting was enjoyed we had the ability to share, discuss, learn, and grow. This book is a WORTH having and reading over to establish the relationship with God and knowing you are unique in your making and having purpose during your journey.
