DIAMOND PLAYGIRLS follows the lives of four twenty-something single African-American females who move into apartments in the same Harlem brownstone. All four women are smart, beautiful and embarking on new career opportunities in the Big Apple. "Dior Emerson" written by Miasha is about an impressionable marketing executive from Canada . Dior has it all together, but what she still lacks is a good man. Written by Daaimah S. Poole, "Tamara Murphy" is the tale of an event planner from Atlanta who is hired as a promoter for a new nightclub in New York. Her job keeps her too busy to spend time with any man, much less the two pursuing her.

Deja King's offering is "Chloe Johnson". She is a pampered princess from Houston who wants to be recognized on her own merits and not those of her successful, millionaire father. She lands a position as an assistant for a fashion magazine and the heart of one of the top music executives. When put in the position, she has to choose what's more important - her career or her man. Finally there's "Mona Lisa Dupree" written by T. Styles. A casting director with an impressive portfolio, Mona Lisa does not concern herself with matters of the heart. She is content with a steady supply of boy toys to keep her happy. When a blast from her past reaches out to her, it may cause her to rethink her stance on relationships.

DIAMOND PLAYGIRLS is a wonderful book of new beginnings. The book is a compilation from four of the hottest fiction writers. Each character starts a new job, meets new loves and makes new friends. The title and author lineup alluded to an edgier more urban tale, yet I was still satisfied. I like that each of the authors included some recurring characters who are totally hilarious in each of their tales. I can easily see a sequel in the works because the book seems to introduce the characters. Each author wrote with a solid and stimulating pen, therefore I could not pick a favorite.

I'm not really big on anthologies but since I was familiar with three of the four authors (T. Styles, Daaimah S. Poole, and Miasha)I decided to give this one a try. I'm so glad I did!

One of the things that made this anthology so good was the stories were connected. All of the girls move into this one house in Harlem, but they all live on separate floors.

Each of the author tells the stories of different characters, and the characters appear in all the stories but in a very minor role. For instance in the Dior story (which was written by Miasha) you see the other characters, but very briefly. Dior is the star of the Dior story. Chloe (written by Deja) is the star of the Chloe story, Tamara (written by Daaimah) is the star of the Tamara story, and Mona Lisa (written by T. Styles) is the star of the Mona Lisa story. It's not until the very end of the book (in a chapter that I guess was written by all four of them) that we see them finally getting together at a club and getting to know each and becoming good friends.

All of the stories were well-written and interesting, and I can't say that I have a favorite. All of the main characters are well-developed. And the two sideline characters that appear in all the stories (the landlady and a bum who thinks he's a Romeo) are hilarious!

And the way the book ends you know there's going to be a sequel, and I can't wait.

It's like reading Sex and the City, and learning how the girls met and became friends.

In fact, it would be great if this book was turned into an HBO series!
I've already decided this is my favorite anthology ever, and one of the best books I've read in 2007. If this was a movie it would be described as a steamy comedy-drama.

I'm recommending it to my bookclub, but we have a Dior, Chloe, Tamara and Mona-Lisa in our group, and I want to see if they recognize themselves!

This book really Wasn't what I expected at all by judging how the the book cover look. The storyline came off too soft and weak to me, there wasn't enough action or drama within the four story's about each of the girl (Dior,Tamara,Chole,Mona-Lisa) overall I was a little Disappoint but at the same time I have to remember I brought the book due to the book cover was so fly, but i will say the best story's in the book to me was Chole Johson by Deja King and Mona Lisa Dupree by T. Styles.

After reading this book I truly hope my day doesn't end like some of theirs.

The first thing that caught my attention about the book was all the great authors that was featured. And when I saw the name DIAMOND PLAYGIRLS I figured it would be a good read. So when I first started reading the book I was kind of excited, but as I kept turning page after page the excitement soon left. With a title like that I expected the book to be off the chain, but I was mistaken. I did finish the book because I started it, but I wouldnt recommend this book to anyone. I will say if you did just want to read the book to form your own opinion I would either borrow it from a friend or go to the nearest Library.

This book could have been so much better. I thought it was going to eventually go somewhere...HA I was so wrong!

THIS WAS A VERY GOOD READ. I LIKE HOW ALL THE AUTHORS FUSED THE CHARACTERS TOGETHER SO WELL.

This book was not good at all to me. Thw authors could of did a better job then this. I would recommed not to buy this at all.

This book wasnt bad,Just ok and a little too safe for me.All the characters were great as well as all of the drama surrounding them.I figured that the ending would be a big surprise and a huge twist would take place,But it didnt.Everything was just too happily ever after.

Diamond Playgirls is definitely a good read!! Daamiah, Miasha, Deja, and T.Styles, definitely did this!!! My favorite character was Mona- Lisa..she was definitely a go getta!!! She was just ready to takeova with her looks, attitude and mentality...she was very detailed and descriptive of her character..which made the book even better!...I agree with the other reader's that these women may have ended up alone on V-day, but they definitely gained sisterhood! Good Read!!! Can't wait for the next one!
