The Glamorous Life,
By
This review is from: Diamond Revelation (Paperback)
APOOO Rating: 4Diamond Revelation by Sheila Copeland brings us back into the life of cousins, Topaz and Nina. Topaz has been living the family life with her husband, Germain, and their two children, Chris and Turquoise, who decides to go by Baby Doll. Sabre Cruz, once a part of the girl group, So Fine, is now venturing out for her solo career. She grew up wishing to become like her idol, Topaz. The dream seems to be becoming reality. Only after meeting Topaz and performing with her, does Sabre eventually start to think that she is better than the "throw-back" singer. Nina, now CEO of Revelation Music with her husband Kyle, signs Topaz and she releases a comeback CD that soars to the top. Nina and Topaz have a secret that no one can ever find out about. Not their closest friends or even Topaz's husband, Germaine. It starts to put a strain on the both of them, as they start to get inquiries about the truth. Sabre's jealousy can prove to be the one thing that can reveal this secret and ruin everyone's life in the Black Friends, as Sabre calls them. Copeland's Diamond Revelation, thrust us back into the life of the music industry. We see jealousy, lies, manipulation, and people who are willing to do anything to be, and stay, on top. Even if you have not read any of her other books, you will enjoy Diamond Revelation and all of the characters. This is definitely one to add to your collection. Donnica Copeland APOOO BookClub

Good Read but........,

This review is from: Diamond Revelation (Paperback)
I was so dissapointed in the ending although I was crying like a baby while reading the last few chapters. I just couldn't believe it. I just knew that Topaz and Germain were going to live happily ever after. It was too sad. Other than that I enjoyed the rest of the book! I had to re read the earlier chocolate series to remember what was going on. I think she definately left the story line up for another book!

OK, but...,

This book had it's ups and downs for me. The constant brand name dropping and celebrity name dropping really irritated me. It was just WAY too much at times. Nina's little conversation with Ne-Yo was over the top in my opinion. However, I did enjoy the drama and reading as the secrets were revealed. If it was Ms. Copeland's intention to make me despise Sabre, then mission accomplished. I also sometimes felt like "who are these people" because Nina and Kyle's personalities seemed to have changed a lot from the last book. Anyway, the book was just OK for me. If she wrote another follow-up, I'd be interested to see what would happen though.

Good Author Bad Ending,
By
This review is from: Diamond Revelation (Paperback)
I have read the entire Diamond Series & eagerly waited for this last story. Ms Copeland is a great writer but she fell into the TYPICAL mode. She greated a character Germain Gladney, who throught the entire series, has been respectful, responsible, educated and caring. For the purpose of eithering keeping it real or selling books, in a matter of few pages, she made him a liar, cheat, adulterer and all of the things that are always used to define Black males. He was the most standup guy in the book and when she took that from he, she killed more than his character, she killed the series. Even though this is fiction, it is more than that. The world watches us through these eyes and this ending confirms what most truly believe. It saddens me that this series ended this way. What was once joyful became typical.

Diamonds Are Forever,
This review is from: Diamond Revelation (Paperback)
At age nineteen, Sabre Cruz is heating up the charts as a new solo artist. She is finally getting all the fame and social status that she's longed for until her childhood idol Topaz knocks her out of the top spot with her long-awaited cd. But Sabre is not going down without a fight and will do anything to make Topaz a distant memory. Nina is back as the head of Suicide Records and signs her cousin Topaz. Nina is trying to balance the pressures of being the head of a record label but the stress may be too much when it starts problems on the home front. Topaz is finally where she wants to be in life. She has a wonderful career, a loving husband, and beautiful children. Topaz's life may be turned upside down when the secret that she and Nina are keeping is in danger of being exposed by an arch enemy. Will Topaz be able to keep this secret safe?Diamond Revelation is a widely entertaining novel by Sheila Copeland. Copeland once again whisks readers away into the fast life of the music industry. Nina and Topaz are back with more drama than ever but adding Sabre into the mix was the icing on the cake. This story moves at such a fever pitch that readers won't be able to put it down. Diamond Revelation can be read as a stand alone novel but you should read the previous titles to get the back story on all of these characters. The books should be read in this order: Chocolate Star, A Chocolate Affair, Diamond Life, and Diamond Revelation. Diamond Revelation is full of drama, glitz and glamour that make this a true page-turner. Reviewed by Radiah Hubbert for Urban Reviews

Too Much,

This review is from: Diamond Revelation (Paperback)
I am on page 43, and had to stop to write this review. So far the book is fine, but I already tired of frequent brand name dropping. Instead of saying purse, the author gives the designer. Instead of just shoes, the brand name... too much.......

Man this novel was something else. What the heck is Sabre's problem? This book grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go til the end, and what an ending it was...Gosh, why Germain? Nina, Kyle and the rest of the cast brought back memories although I'll have to read "A Chocolate Affair" and "Chocolate Star" over again to really jog my memory like "Diamond Life" did.

I'm a fan of this series and I must say...*sigh*...after waiting two years for this book I'm just speechless. I loved the book, the story was great. But Ms. Copeland, "Why did you end it the way you did?" I was not liking the ending at all. However, the ending did leave open the possibility of another installment, but I think that this story has ran it's course.Overall, great read! I loved the story; however, I just couldn't get past that ending.

I have read all three books and i can honestly say i am kind of disappointed. How could you kill off Germain that really broke my heart. Topaz didn't really get no closure and as for Sabre i was expecting 4 her 2 be pregnant. The ending sucked real bad. Very Very disappointed.
