I could not be happier with this product. I had it installed in about 20 minutes and it worked great without any initial problems. Consistently get speeds of 49333 or better.Would highly recommend this modem.

I picked up my modem and installed it in just a couple of minutes. It was easy. When I log on, it seems to connect at 49333 every time. I guess that is good because my 33.6 connected at 31.9. I was going to buy that $25 one with the $20. rebate but from the reviews - you get what you pay for. I went with Diamond and I am glad I did. The box says the requirements are for a pentium 133 or higher. I have a Pentium 120 and it has worked great.

This modem goes both ways (3.3 and 5 volts),

Like other people have said before me, this modem won't break through the 50Kbs barrier. My external xircom [serial port] modem could connect at 53 kbs on the same line. (The effective difference between 49 kbs and 53 kbs is negligible though, so who cares)The drivers for this modem loaded easily the first time, and when I clean-installed win2000, they automatially re-installed, no questions asked. On a side note: This modem supports the rare 3.3 volt standard. (Some high-end workstations and servers use the 3.3 volt standard, but everyone else uses the 5 volt standard- so this doesn't matter for most people. 3 volts is an "emerging" standard which will probably never catch on). Most pci modems only fit into 5 volt PCI slots. A 3.3 volt pci card slot has different gooves so that you can't mistakenly put a 5 volt card into it. The supramax is compatable with both. (Silicon Graphics pointed me towards the supramax after I struck out with another modem). Closing comments: This modem has served me well, but now it collects dust inside my computer, thanks to my cable modem. It's still nice to know that it's there for me, and I use it occasionally to test how long my sites take to load for the [not-yet-broadbanded] people

What can you say about a modem that installs in NT 4.0 in less than 10 minutes? About time, maybe? For the record, I installed it in an HP Kayak XA Workstation running NT 4.0 with 128mb RAM, 4.3gig HD, Matrox Millenia AGP and Soundblaster card and equipment. Connection speed is always 43,000+ with download speeds consistently 4.5+. It's not my T1 at work, but for home use, this one's a keeper.

This is my second diamond multimedia 56k modem. Both have proved to provide outstanding and consistent performance. Diamond's customer service department is also extremely helpful and competent in handling any issues and/or problems.

This modem is the most economical one that I have ever purchased. Under Windows 98, it ran at 48K. But in my case I had to enable the PCI slot through the BIOS. My PCI slots were disabled by default by the Phoenix BIOS. I have a Dec XL-590. I tried to install it under Windows NT4.0 (SP6) but to no avail. Even though service was excellent, the modem exhibited no response after installation. I was advised to reinstall NT4.0 and the Service Pack, but my system crashed. With a US Robotics internal faxmodem, I got 51K in Windows 98. The difference is not significant, but the price was. In general, I highly recommend this economical and fast modem under Windows 98.

Excellent product. Superior connection quality!,

As an owner of USR/3COM modems, I know how a modem should work. This is a fine product, by a fine company. Normally I have had only good experiences with USR/3COM modems, and wouldn't recommend anything else.Heres the scoop. Connection speed: 49,333 bps consistently. Downloads range at 4.3-5.7KB/s. That is up there with USR! No other comany is going to sell you a great product, great warranty, and an AWESOME software package for 39 dollars. Amazon will. Buy it!!!

I have a dual boot PC with Win98 and Windows NT Workstation and the installation of the modem and drivers for both Win9X and NT products are user friendly. Took about 20 minutes. Insant access to internet with/out any problems. Money well spent!

I purchased this Modem and have had no problems. Installation was easy and painless. I occasionally have problems with the VXD driver in WIN98 but that will be soon corrected by the manufacturer and it only seems to happen when I let the connection sit for a long period of time with out activity. Overall this modem is a good buy!
