I bought this and the product was defective. I tried returing it but the place that I bought it wouldn't take it back. The customer support for this product told me that on the phone that they could only answer my questions by email, and the tech support on email told me that they could only help by the phone. I'm still stuck with the product. dont buy it.

I read the review on this site about the DIAMOND SupraMax External USB 56K Modem that was a negative review because the reviewer purchased a defective product. I understand his frustration. I've bought new cars that way as well. I however, purchased a DIAMOND SupraMax External USB 56K Modem from Walmart about 2 1/2 years ago, and it has by far been the best dial up modem I've ever had (and I've had a bunch). You can purchase the Dynex USB 56K modem on eBay for around $5.00 with roughly the same amount of shipping cost. You'll still pay about $32.00 for a Diamond SupraMax and with good reason. I have a Dynex DXM300 USB modem (couldn't pass it up at that cost) and it generally connects at 28.8 or at most (on a good day when Venus is in the 3rd house of Orion or something like that)31.2 KBPS. When using the Diamond SupraMax, I consistently connect at 40-41.3KBPS every time. I use this modem when a fast bullet proof connection is needed. The Dynex was relegated to my shop where higher speeds are not usually necessary, and the occasional "click" and you've dropped connection isn't as annoying. I'm currently browsing the net to find my best deal on another Diamond SupraMax just to have an additional one. I've always been that impressed with its performance.
