Book Description

January 27, 2005
Master Nan Huai-Chin's discourses on the treasured Buddhist Diamond Sutra bring together a lifetime's personal cultivation experience that crosses into every single school of esoteric and spiritual practice. The great contemporary Master uses the Diamond Sutra as a tool to gauge the understanding that we must have when journeying towards understanding our true selves. The various passages from this beautiful Sutra are used to provide the student with a practical framework that combines understanding with practical cultivation. Master Nan's teachings are uniquely different compared with interpretations given by other contemporary and past teachers.

About the Author

Master Nan is considered one of the greatest contemporary spiritual Masters. Born in China in 1917, Master Nan attained profound understanding of the Dharma in his twenties, a feat verified by several Ch'an and esoteric Buddhist Masters. He is the author of over 40 books that together have sold over 20 million copies in Chinese-speaking countries alone. Several of his books have already been translated into English and other languages. He is considered a foremost expert in Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and classic Chinese philosophy and history. Master Nan however is no scholar, and living in Hong Kong, he spends most of his time teaching informally to his students and participating actively in the rebuilding of culture in China. This work was translated by Hue En (Pia Giammasi), a long-time student of Master Nan. Hue En has used an informal and personable style that attempts to capture the beauty and the cadence of the original teaching material.

5.0 out of 5 stars 84,000 Stars for Master Nan, August 25, 2005
This review is from: Diamond Sutra Explained (Paperback)
I, also, have read all the available translations of Master Nan's work. In fact, when I picked up Working Towards Enlightnment some 25 years ago, it changed my life. I have read it 6 times so when I heard that another series of lectures were going to be published, especially on a sutra much praised by the Master, I wanted to read it. Talk about grasping!

I was not disappointed. Master Nan's awakening is obvious throughout. He will dispell the scholars misconception as to wether this sutra is about emptiness or not. And he will challenge the meditator in his practice to go beyond appearances and concepts.

His great humility translates into wonderful humor and his teaching skills develop into the Roar of the Lion.

A must have for anyone serious in their practice or research.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give this a 5 Diamond rating!, January 9, 2009
This review is from: Diamond Sutra Explained (Paperback)
The Diamond Sutra is easy to read and the behind the scenes explanations and stories from Master Nan make this a treasure for all to enjoy. More comes out of the page (and of you!) every time you're lucky enough to read it. I pull this out all the time and my copy is marked, underlined and highlighted with notes throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars profound adn inspiring, October 24, 2005
This review is from: Diamond Sutra Explained (Paperback)
the books of teacher Nan Huai Chin about spirituality are the best and the most difficult,
many consider him the last great oriental teacher with the most unusual and great wisdom
all his books surely are indispensable for the serious student of the Way and they cannot be matched by anyone in profoundity and clarity
they are the best companian volumes with the excellent books of Bill Bodri about meditation
